yes they can.

I think it depends on the number of - that a domain has. Often they can be spammy sites that use domains like this to for in keywords.
I think google downgrades sites a little each time a - is used, so 1 - not much affect
2 - a little more
3 - more still

Yes, there's no difference, but I don't like to use hyphens or numbers. I prefer pure text. Most people won't rememeber to type, and you'll lose visits.

Other domainers regularly put hyphens between keywords of domains i own and offers them for sale to me. Flattering and helps raise my values is all.
