For personal accounts on FB (NOT FB pages), what is the MAXIMUM number of friends you're allowed to have?

i heard it was 5000...some radio dj was saying he hit his maximum of 5000

I had a lot of friends that had to get a second account when they got over 5K, but looking in my friend list now I see a couple with over 5K friends, so seems you can get more now.
I don't see anyone on my list with way more than 5K though, just a few 100 over 5K

I think now you have 5000 friends and above that are followers, which can see your updates but you cannot see theirs, or something like that..

It is 5k. They made it possible to follow people you don't know, so you don't get too many rejections. Sth like that...

5000 is the max but when you get past abut 4950 you should click the option to not allow any further friend requests - otherwise people could receive a notice telling them that you are unable to accept new friend requests. They can (and usually do) add you as a follower when it's the only option clearly available.
