TubeAce: A wonderful case example of why people torrent shit.
A few weeks ago, I saw TubeAce promote their Wordpress plugin in this thread. I'm quite retarded when it comes to programming, but one thing I do know is how to Wordpress. The idea of having a good tube importer was a great idea to me - I've been wanting to work on a tube project for quite a while now, I just haven't had the tools in order to do it.
So I sent off my $80, got the plugin/theme emailed to me and installed it following the instructions. When I tried to use the importer, I was unable to get past the initial stage of processing. I don't know how plugins work, so I tried signed up to PornTube and used the importer that comes with TubeAce for that. I managed to get those imports working after a lot of messing about, but with access to only one source of videos that isn't really as niche-dependent as I'd like, the result is really poor. So I paid $80 for this script and the main function of the plugin simply doesn't work. That's cool, I'm sure I can get a little support from the people who made it. I might have a server problem - I might have installed it incorrectly, whatever. Anyway, I added Chris H on Skype and started talking to him, explaining what the issue was. It took two days to get a reply that didn't address what my issue was. When I explained this, I was told that "I'll check it out shortly". This was over a week ago. I gave him full access to the wordpress install and FTP. Here is my recent Skype chatlog: http://i.imgur.com/aCVKME9.jpg I have consistently asked for some form of response. If you're busy with something else, I'd like to know. If the issue is known and a solution is being worked on - drop me a line. I'm happy to wait if you actually appreciate that one of your customers cannot use what they've paid for. But what I'm not happy about is the lack of response you've given. You are selling a product and that product is not functioning correctly. It might be an issue on my end - if it is, I expect that I'm not the only one, and that you might be able to assist me. Now, if I downloaded nulled version of TubeAce from a torrent, I could have had it instantly, realized that it didn't work and shrugged it off, only losing my time as a result. The issue is that I paid for the product instead of doing that, and now the product doesn't work, I'm out $80 and, sadly, I don't have a script that I want to use. I want to use your script, and I want to tell other people that it's a good tube solution, but when you fail to provide me with a response for over a week while bumping your thread on GFY and being logged onto Skype while I contact you, I find it incredibly rude. I'd like either: 1. Some information regarding what the issue is, as well as a rough timeline for it being fixed. If the issue is on my end, a solution to it. Be it a new host, a better understanding of programming or something else. 2. A refund of $80, at which point I will completely remove the script from my site and delete it from my PC. I don't want to be an asshole, and I certainly don't think I'm being unreasonable with what I'm saying. Please do something to rectify an issue one of your customers has. |

Unfortunately this isn't an isolated incident. I went back in fourth for months to get it to work and he was pretty useless. Started out a nice guy, helpful, then just ignored and maybe one word replies. He just didn't give a shit.
I had another programmer help me out and teach me a little php and html. Only reason we havent switched to mechbunny is that I now have it working well and although a little shitty looking it delivers video every time. Mechbunny design is on the way though. Paully |
I bought tube ace, and never had an issue with Chris. He even coded me some extra features n what not. This was 2 years ago.
Anyhow, sorry to hear about customer service troubles. Get MechBunny, there's no greater guy than Konrad. (And those who know him in person can vouch for this). He's Customer Service #1 - no matter how of a tiny little client, or a big whale you are! |

For $80 I would give zero support since after 1.5 hours I'm losing money.

I have added adequate documentation covering everything from plugin / theme installation to video importing.
PornTube video importing instructions can be found here: http://wordpress.tubeace.com/nav/doc...rntube_import/ |

I spent MANY MANY hours with Paul B on ICQ (I have over 400 messages to / from) and dozens of emails helping with customizing the site even after he threaten to "track me down and castrate me by cheese grater". I was never paid anything more than the original license fee. |

Arnox, I see you have imported videos from PornTube.com on your site http://www.videoteenporn.com/
What exactly is the issue here? |

What I did was took my hourly rate of $50/hour and divided $80 by it. Minus how long it took me to originally program the script divided by my estimated sales (which I'm guessing is more than $5. |

Also these guys make millions. Think of any quality program, Nifty Stats for example. They survive my providing unbeatable service to their clients. |
Added a new PornTube Import demo video.

That's fine if they remove the URL.
I just wanted to show that everything was working. It's hilarious that people make these claims and when I go to show proof there's suddenly a problem with this transparency. |

Not sure you care, but I was gonna buy until I saw you post a clients URL.
That sucks. I was interested in checking this out. |
I was simply trying to show that it worked after him falsely blasting me and encouraging torrenting of my plugin. Am I just supposed to allow him to say these things without me showing my side of the story?
Again, mods can remove the URL. |
IMO the main issue here is blatantly starting to ignore a paying customer out of the blue, that's just unprofessional.
It takes very little effort to say something like "Sorry, we provide full user docs but can't troubleshoot end-user issues that may be a result of server configs or other user variables" or whatever. Or write up a policy on your website saying further direct support has an hourly charge or you can offer an annual support plan for additional $$$ on the license (Strongbox for example does this). That way the customer doesn't sit around for days waiting for a response, while the company just totally blows them off. Again, it's real easy to just be straight with them. Literally 10 seconds to tell them what's up via Skype. I'd be leery about doing business with a company who can't be bothered to do that. |

All you had to do is say I'll get back to you. You ignored me like the OP. I remember when I offered to castrate you with a cheese grader but in my defense that was when your update screwed things up while I had you on icq and I was worried you were gonna bail. Remember the part about offering your services for hire after the update didnt work because I had customized some pages? That week I was up for Visa approval and told you that I had no time for fuck ups. Speaking of jokes tell everyone about the excuse you gave for not getting back to me for a couple weeks. You know, the one about you and Bill Gates on vacation and how he had to jump out of the plane mid flight to fix one of the engines and something about you snorting coke off his ass. That was a good one. Paully |
Instant messaging is not always the most reliable method of support due to working on multiple devices / machines. Email is best. I was traveling all last week and did not see the message on Skype. I deal with many clients on a daily basis.
I have been giving support for YEARS to clients, some having spent HOURS UPON HOURS with offering support via email, ICQ and Skype and all for the original price of the script. I have not charged an additional fee for support or upgrades even if you ordered the script FIVE YEARS AGO. I don't know how many of you have built and supported a CMS. I will tell you it is no easy task. Considering different server configurations, unpredictable import files from hundreds of sponsors, customers wanting help with template editing (some of whom barely know basic HTML). |
Paully, I do recall you making these things up. You were never grateful for all the extra effort I made with you for WEEKS helping you setup the site. All for 200 bucks. Thanks for letting me do all that for you.

Saying I did not respond to you for weeks is complete BS and you know it. I even stayed up late with you on many occasions on ICQ because you had a day job. |
I said you started out helpful then decided to not respond. I will concede half my issues were out of ignorance but the other half were issues with your script.
I explained what I needed and my level of programming, well in advance of buying the script. You said no problem I give free support. If the script worked as advertised I wouldn't have needed a whole lot of help, except for design. By the way did gfy hire you to build the private message system here? Looks like your handy work. Paully |
Paully, please tell me what did not work as advertised. Feel free to post any URLs or screenshots, emails, ICQ logs. As I recall, I gracefully helped you with numerous customizations none of which I was paid additionally or even asked for that matter.

What does this have to do with torrents? All you mother fuckers do is pass the blame.

My main issue was importing videos from it's own server which would lock the script up due to mod security because it called on an absolute url instead of calling the video locally if ANY folder on the server was pass protected. I know it was designed to scrape stolen videos from freetubes but I told you I was building a paysite and hosting my own content. That was just off the top of my head but don't be afraid to throw order by name up in that script once in a while. Having the channel pulldown's with random results was irritating but I figured it out. Bottom line is you need to pick up your customer service game. Now Im not mad at you, just am disappoint and apparently I'm not the only one. Paully |
would love to hear some success stories with tubeace plugin from happy users that got it to work.

$200 for a single solitary wordpress theme? Really?

The OP's issue was solved hours ago on this lovely Sunday afternoon.

However, I must stress that I made it very clear what the issue was: Quote:
Thanks for fixing up the plugin for me, because I like the function of your plugin and I believe it's well worth its price when working. For everyone else re: URL. Yes, I understand how it's an issue. No, I did not get permission, but I have no issue with the site being linked here. Your concerns are legitimate, but I don't mind my shitty tube being viewed. :thumbsup |

He asked me, as an outsider who didn't know him at the time, to take a look at some of the issues he was having. When I looked under the hood, I found software that not only wasn't even object oriented (!!) at the time, but had some rudimentary coding errors made by inexperienced coders. Not trying to knock your software (I've held my tongue a LOT in the past about it, even asking you nicely if you had considered going object-oriented at one point instead of just bashing you). However, it's really sloppy work and I'd be embarrassed to charge for it, frankly. I was engaged on the project during the times he was unable to reach you, and he showed me your answers, which were generally either misunderstanding the problem, or not offering a working solution. As to Paully wanting something for nothing (you keep talking about how you only took the $200 original fee and no more), I have to tell you I spent 17.33 billable hours on the project ($5,200). He paid instantly, and SENT ME A FRIGGIN' PS3 and some games in the mail on top of it for taking him on as a client (I wasn't accepting new clients at the time). Class act, doesn't ever want something for nothing. Works hard, and expects his vendors to do the same. I have no skin in this game, but I hate to see someone get dragged through the mud needlessly ... especially when it's a dude who is the exact opposite of the picture you're trying to paint. |
Hello,
This is rodforhole. I am a new joiner. Thanks to all |
I want to make a adult tube site. Which WP theme and plugin will be suitable for this?
|
I was going to buy Tubeace theme. But I have changed my mind. Is there any alternative theme from where I will get after sales service?

I Paid 80$ for the wp plugin and yes i got a lot of help in start, then when i had suggestions to how he could make the script better it did not happen. I asked for a simple thing as a rotator for the videos that never happened, so i had to fix one myself but it does not work like i want it to.
He did make a new template and that is good, but i have asked Chris plenty of times if he could create ad space on side / under the video player and i am still waiting and hoping for a huge update on that plugin. I am seriously considering KVS it cost a little more but it looks better and i am sure it is running better. I have as of now 30k of video on my wp tube it has made it super slow in admin mode, when i want to import videos it takes forever to load the screen. I doubt it is the vps i am renting, 3 gb ram should be enough to open a page, but he tells me to get a better server. If wp tube ace require a super fast server then he should have mentioned this on the front page, i even told him so and i never got a respond on that. If you plan to run a tiny tube with less than 15k videos then i think you are ok using this, but if you have larger plans and want to have loads of videos then it guess not. Also had the wp running on two other websites but removed them and moved them to hostedtube, great customer service and it runs itself. |
eroticfem, I have told you AT LEAST 3 TIMES you can paste ad code directly into the theme template files. Also, I'm sure there is plenty of documentation on how to optimize WP for high traffic sites.
