Let's Play A Political Game!

Without any political spin or bias, ask a friend, coworker, family member, or random stranger in the park, what they think is currently happening in Washington.

Please post replies here, so we can get an idea what people are thinking.

It should prove to be an interesting experiment.

The only question you need to ask - point blank - with no spin or buildup...

Q) What is currently happening in Washington?

A) Then just post the answer.

Of course, who wouldn't?

But you can still do both - just ask someone at the park or the beach.

There has been a huge shift in the way Congress works in the past 4-8 years, maybe longer.

In the past, someone would be elected to Congress and they would represent their people. They would pass laws that were for the general good, and when they didn't meet eye to eye with their other peers in Congress they tried to work things out. When that failed, they voted, and some people lost and some people won.

These days it's no longer about representing their people - it's about beating the other side. The healthcare issue is the perfect example. We can all agree that we need a large number of changes to our healthcare system. Obamacare started off as a Republican bill in 2007 but died in committee, was improved upon and became a Democratic bill... It was argued and debate in Congress, and became law. Since then, the Republican party has done everything they can do to kill this healthcare act to the point where it went up to the Supreme Court. We all agree that healthcare is a pressing issue, but instead they are acting like children about this.

And healthcare isn't the only important issue. We need to stop our debt, which is out of control.

Congress currently has a 10% approval rating. It just doesn't get any worse than this.

While I am at it, we need to start talking about term limits too. There are too many people in Congress who have been there for too long. This is not something that should be a career; Serving in Congress should be an honor and a privilege for a short period of time.

Years ago the Congressional Science Committee (or whatever) held a hearing on email and the Internet. The person in charge of the Committee was a Congressman from Alaska. I kid you not he used the term "that Internet email thingy". How in the world is the Congressman in charge of our science committee so far out of the loop that he doesn't know how to use email?

This is the problem. People get into Congress and never leave and get so old there that they cannot stay current with modern trends in society. If you don't know how email and the "internet thingy" works, you shouldn't be in charge of science and technology.

The longer they are in politics, the more of a game it becomes. And the more they want to "beat the other team". That's not what it's about.

Q) What is currently happening in Washington?

A) Don't touch me there...
