Argh...life sux

OK, so bad enough that I had to spend last weekend scrambling for a new host (which I found and am VERY happy with them) b/c my previous host pulled the plug on me an hour or two after a DMCA complaint (unjustified, as I had permission to use the materials in questions). I dealt with it, got new hosting, and got one of my sites back up.

All is hunky dory, right? Not even fucking close. I get a call from my boss this morning (my day job is mainstream web development and SEO) that the entire tech division of her company is being bought out and that the purchasing company outsources all their coding overseas so that come Nov 1, I won't have a job.

Juuuuuuust ducky. Grrrr....

Sorry, had to vent. Now I get to send out a slew of resumes and wade through the inevitable "We really love your qualifications but we want someone on-site..." responses.

Wheee!

Sorry to hear that man, I'm sure you will get through it all okay though :) I had the same thing happen with my host the other week...had to find a new host within hours so I had to stay up all night working.

take it as a kick in the ass to get your own business to a level that makes you independent from working for someone else...

gracesfall 10-09-2013 06:50 PM

** UPDATE **

OK so I sent out resumes to close to two dozen remote job listings and got a nibble. Spoke w/ the owner and his co-founder today and I have another phone conference tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

I'm not retarded :) I spoke w/ the 2 owners yesterday and their engineer today. I think I'm supposed to speak w/ their sort-of SEO guy today / tomorrow to make sure I know everything I say I do :)

You are always working for someone else. When u own your business you are still working for someone else just instead of one person paying you to do something you have to convince hundreds or thousands or millions to pay you for something they want to buy.

Assuming you have the ability to manage and the imagination of how and where to scale, the improvement in lifestyle goes up dramatically.
