For those that are posting about the eligibility of Cruz

...to becoming President of the U.S.A. even though he was born in another country...let me remind you that John McCain was not born in the U.S.A.

Was John McCain ever President?

_Richard_ 10-12-2013 10:27 AM

you must be joking

'There are two effective ways to gain U.S. citizenship at birth: have either (or both) of the parents be U.S. citizens, or be born on designated incorporated U.S. sovereign territory.'

Obama will negotiate if Cruz releases his birth certificate.

"Sen. Ted Cruz was born on Dec. 22, 1970 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to a Cuban father and an American mother."

Seems a bit different than born to two American parents on a US military base.

Tom_PM 10-12-2013 11:04 AM

Who would vote for that dip anyway? lmao, let him run. The republican primaries are always the greatest sideshow on Earth. They'll crawl over their own mothers to be the wackiest, most right wingiest nutjob the tea party ever wet dreamed of and then backpedal all the way out of the white house. Can't hardly wait.

:thumbsup

Hawaii became a full US state in 1959.

Obama was born in 1961.

McCain was born at Coco Solo Naval Air Station, Panama Canal Zone... Which is (was) considered US territory.

I don't remember any discussion about eligibility at all, which is kind of odd.

crockett 10-12-2013 11:54 AM

Who really cares? This guy has less chance of becoming the president than Denis Rodman. The only people that think this guy has even the slightest chance in hell of becoming president are on the same level of crazy as moon landing conspiracy theorist.

is that right?

tell me. do you think your country should be barring the children of servicemen from being the leader of the country, because their parents are having children on overseas bases?

after you wrapped your head around that, you can then ask youself, 'has anyone thought of this before?'

After all of the Kenya/foreigner baiting of Obama, analogies about Rafael "Ted" Cruz were inevitable:

Following all of the birther BS about Obama's birth certificate, Cruz's current Canuck controversy over his eligibility to run for President is pretty hilarious.

Tail Gunner Ted is helping the public see what a joke the Republican party has become.

The wing-nuts in his far-right Tea Party faction have torn the Republican party apart, and just as they don't care what damage they do to the country during the current government shutdown, they don't even care if they tear their own party apart (while simultaneously the Demos, who have historically been more dysfunctional due to their broad spectrum of views, conservative to liberal, have amazingly become more organized and unified over the past decade).

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vDks99H7nr...z+Combined.jpg

If the far-right strategy continues to backfire, and further alienates the voting public and divides their own party, the Democrats could retake the House in 2014, and the last two years of Obama's administration may look more like the first two years, when Obama was able to have greater influence over shaping the agenda.

That's true. Right now all republicans want to hang him from his balls and be severely pissed upon. If he hadn't been such a dick to them though, he might have been a nominee for 2016.

Some people...and you were one of them...were stating that one has to be born in the CONUS to be eligible to run for the Presidency and I started this thread to prove that is not necessarily true.

There was discussion about his eligibility...both times he ran.

If that piece of garbage was ever elected president, then we'd really deserve whatever hell he rains down on the USA.

Why would he want to be president anyway? So he can dismantle the government? Hopefully he drives off a cliff and saves us the circus his campaign will be. I really mean that. The guy should just die.

keysync 10-12-2013 02:52 PM

Watching all you liberals spew your one sided hatred is hilarious.

Then he is a US citizen if his parents registered him at the Embassy or US Consulate anytime after his birth. All it takes is one parent to be a US citizen.

I live in Thailand and have a Thai partner. If we have a child, on foreign soil, all we have to do is go to the US Embassy (or Consulate) with the proper documents, and he/she will get a US passport and be a US Citizen. A couple of my friends here have done exactly this.

This is 100% fact.

As a side note... They will also be required to pay taxes (or at least file) when they are employed, even if they never step foot in the USA or use their US passport. The IRS have been going after US citizens who were born and raised abroad, never stepped foot in the USA, but had a passport and are employed abroad, but didn't file with the IRS. Funny world we live in.
