WordPress 3.6.1. swf not permitted - solved
 

I'm doing an update with flash file - when I suddenly get message -
"Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons" - WTF ?!

It was really odd, since till this moment I was able to upload swf / flash files with no problem.
Then I found this article - that helped me to solve the problem.

And by the way - Mya Jane Vasquez today has B-Day.

And thank God for this simple solution I'm able to upload flash files again !

Wordpress has long since tried defining what webmasters are allowed to do with their own sites - mainly in a failed attempt to hide the fact that Wordpress is not an actual CMS, but merely a blogging platform.

Not if you can make it sit up and beg :) I used to view WP the same way until I started tinkering with it and building my own themes. There are still areas where it falls short - I would love to be able to cherry pick on which pages certain plugins load to keep the bloat code down and an ecommerce plugin that *doesn't* fuck up at frequent intervals would be nice too...other than that, it's not a bad little tool.
