I wrote something in about 10 minutes in response to a writer's prompt. People are digging it and it has found its way to the front page.

If you cannot monetize it then what good is it... :2 cents: or is this not a business forum anymore?

Well, it is more of a personal thing for other areas that I have been pursuing away from this industry. It could potentially get me some cool exposure which, in the writing world is always good. The only way I am going to monetize it will be if it leads me to something that people pay for. It could, but likely not.

As for a business forum, it is, after all, "Fucking Around & Program Discussion." There are plenty of non business threads.

Cliff notes of the story:

The prompt was to write a story where the world has changed, and like jury duty, everyday people are randomly selected to kill criminals that have been given the death sentence.

My story is about a guy who has been called 7 times in two years. It has destroyed his life and sent him into some very dark places. When he gets his 8th summons he breaks. At the execution (which takes place on live TV), instead of pushing the buttons he pulls a knife and kills himself while the nation watches.

One of the last guys who got some spontaneous fiction to the front page ended up being contacted by hollywood for a movie deal, so monetization is not always about nickels and dimes. (Or pennies in the case with the adult industry)
