Week vacation in LA - need tips
Planing to visit LA for the first time with my gf, for a week or so, since I've never been and there are a lot of gfyers here, where the best area to stay? any special attractions? thanks
|
Porn Valley.
I'd leave your GF @ home though. |
Porn isn't on my personal interest list so I'd rather not stumble upon any shenanigans.
|
Watts Towers.. Slauson and Crenshaw.. And Disneyland..
|
West Hollywood of course!
|
If this is your first visit, I would stay down in Santa Monica. It's right at the beach, it's centrally located and you can see a lot of LA driving a short distance.
|
+1 for Santa Monica.
|
Relax & Enjoy the holiday man! :D
|
Any place close to a dispensary would be the way to go.
|
When I visited with my gf last year, we stayed in Venice Beach. Rented an apartment near the beach and then drove to where we wanted to go. It was very nice :)
|
I always stay somewhere around the airport. It's convenient for me as the major highways are close by, it's near the car rental return and airport. Some of the better places are elsewhere, but I liked the W when I stayed there last. Not much of a view though.
As for the attractions: Venice Beach Boardwalk Disneyland/California Adventure Hollywood Walk of Fame Paramount Studio Tour Sony Studio Tour Warner Bros Studio Tour Santa Monica Pier Universal Studios Hollywood Beverly Center Rodeo Drive Various Starline Tours Griffith Observatory |
I think I stayed in Korea Town when I went which was alright but:
-If you're a big music fan, make sure to go to amoeba music. I think it's the worlds largest record indie store? -Eating at Jack In The Box and In & Out are obviously musts while you're over there. -Go to Venice Beach, see some sideshow attractions & realize everyone is stoned there -Again, not sure how into music you are, but I went to the only "punk" bar in Hollywood called The Burgundy Room. It's worth checking out if you like dive bars and are into counter culture. |
Be prepared to spend a lot of time in traffic. A LOT of time.

"best area to stay" i would suggest for you staying home. Americans are sick of you war mongering Israeli types and you are not welcome. Have fun loser. |

Orange County - Newport Beach/Balboa, Anaheim (Disneyland), Laguna Beach San Diego County - San Diego, La Jolla / Del Mar Barefootsies did well with mentioning the studio tours, and watching live taping of some shows. Many are available free. AirBnB (apartments and homes) Hotwire and TravelZoo (hotel accommodations) Good luck and have fun. Haven't been home since January. :( |

Chilli Burger
The original Tommy Burger at northeast corner of Beverly and Rampart boulevards west of downtown Los Angeles.

pull out on the map and see... much nicer than LA and close enough, over the hills to the beach and then drive down the 1 into Santa Monica, Venice etc.. plenty of nice places to eat around here and then maybe jump up to Santa Barbra and wine country for a day... https://maps.google.com/maps?q=agour...ed=0CAoQ_AUoAg |
Definitely Santa Monica near the promenade. You can walk many places. Good Food. Good Shopping. Nice people.

Go to the corner of La Cienega and Venice Blvd and flag down the blue pickup truck. Get in and the good times will begin.
