Tonys pizza is like the worst store bought pizza you can eat. Tastes like cardboard. I feel bad for her kids having to eat that crap. A lot of these coupon clippers end up eating total shit.

The other day I saw a documentary on Discovery channel. A USA boy got like 500 coupons and bought like 1500 dollars in food, and he finished paying only 15 cents to the supermarket.

I was like "WTF??".. Is that common in USA? We don't have all those coupons here in Brazil, its literally impossible to make a 1500 purchase and pay a few cents, no matter what you try.

The max we have is like 20% or 25% OFF and only some days, with some credit cards, nothing else.

There is an entire TV series dedicated to people that do that. It is not easy to do. Many stores won't let you do it because it can literally take an hour or longer for one person to check out and you have to spend a hell of a lot of time scouring the internet and papers for coupons. It is almost a full time job.

If the chick ordered seven quarter pound seafood orders in front of me in order to use 7 coupons instead of 1 big order I'd smack her in the head with a Trout. :2 cents:

I've seen the show where they use all the coupons a couple of times. Most of them actually call ahead and make an appointment because the checkout times are so long. They may have 3-5 carts full of stuff, but they have to break down the purchases to match the coupons so they might have break all that down into 30 different transactions. It's crazy.

Seems hardly worth it for the store...

The entire coupon business seems like a full time job on its own from what I've seen a while ago in some Discovery show.

In the end it all depends on the coupons. The store will get money from companies that issue vendor coupons, but many stores also offer double coupons etc. Because of people like this most stores now have a limit of how many you can use. That is partially why it takes so long for them to check out because the rules only allow a certain number per transaction etc. Many stores simply won't let you do this.

In the series that is about these people they sometimes have to travel a ways to find a store that will accept what they are doing. I suppose it could be good publicity for the store if they were on the show or there was a story about one of these people coming there, but the last thing they want is a bunch of people showing up and trying to do this and wasting their time.

I always get screwed by coupons, too much fine print and seems like the stores purposefully run out of stock and have similar product where the coupon ones should be. And as far as I've seen not many coupons for fruit or veggies so yea, not healthy at all.

My wife has it down pretty good. We aren't trying to save money, but if i can avoid spending $25 on water alone that's great. She has a routine and buys certain items from certain stores where she knows they will be cheaper. Oddly enough, her first stop is Big Lots - They don't have a great selection, but when they have something good in it she buys in bulk.

I hear them bitching all the time about the damn coupon bitches that steal the coupons from the Sunday paper LOL.

You can get a 1/4lb of fish for $1? That seems... low.

On that coupon show the women all say that getting the coupons is always a challenge. One woman will rummage through recycle bins, she has all her neighbors save them for her, she spends hours getting them together.

Like Rochard said, if she spent that time getting a job they wouldn't need to do this, but it looks like, for some of these women, it is the thrill of doing it that drives them. They all have huge stashes of food that they have bought and take great pride in those stashes.

Strange, but I believe this happens only in US. Nobody will let you get free stuff here in Europe.
