Main Domain- .TV or .XXX? Does it matter?

We have a cam site that we were planning to have use the .tv mainly, but then wanted to procure the .xxx domain just to have it as a backup, and forward to the .tv domain from the .xxx domain name.

Does anyone have experience with this and could advise on gaining traffic between having a .tv and .xxx domain names?

i'm prefer use dot com

That's really no help at all.

I have a .tv and have had numerous .xxx domains. I personally think .xxx is a waste. Go to namepros dot com and read about .TV and .xxx. There are some good people that can help. I see .tv's selling for good money.

I think it matters also what your domain name actually is.

Sometimes your domain name may sound better and roll off the toungue better as oppose to anther tld ending.

I also wonder if your links may be banned in some edge cases with a .xxx ending. Not sure if that is going to be a big deal, but I can imagine some anal administrator checking for that on their blogs somewhere.

Although, .xxx sounds hotter already and I know what I'm getting when I click on it, not that your domain name isn't already screaming what you are offereing anyways. But that xxx gives me an extra hint of "... ahh yeah... chica chica bang bang".

However, this is just a non - SEO observation.

i think google ranks pornsites better when with .xxx, that the experience i made. As already metioned, xxx tells you what u get visiting this site.

.tv's work just as good, if not better than .com's for adult tube and video related websites. I have many .tv's and they are booming! Don't ever buy .xxx's. They are overpriced, complicated to register and they just really, suck. They slow down the seo process heavily too.

my choice is .tv as well

Most of the people on the web use to type .com if you just tell your domain name!
.tv or .xxx are industry specific extensions and will need some time for people to accept them as professionals.

No such benefit for now at least...

Better to go for.tv domain, .xxx is for porn sites. Since you have a cam site, .tv is more suitable.

For a cam site i'd prefer .xxx But generally i don't think it has a great effect on any rankings and stuff. It's the SEO that effects the ranking.

I've actually got both and I am hosting under the .TV name. I was wondering if forwarding to the .TV address from .XXX would help, or harm me?

3xmedia 11-28-2013 04:45 AM

.tv sucks, it just doesn't rank at all.

xmarketing 12-20-2013 06:27 AM

.xxx i'd prefer too. or just old fashioned .com. But mainly it's the content that affects google ranking.
