Automatic updates for maintenance and security updates.
This feature seems really useful, especially for those with dozens of WP blogs :2 cents:

Main reason why I deleted every Wordpress installation that I had. You think that after almost ten years they could finally get one secure stable version... But, nooo... They are too busy masturbating on each other and adding clever features to secure the core "technology".

I got sick of the weekly (or even monthly) installs, patches, and "upgrades". I still think 2.2 was my favourite version of W.P. A solid blog platform, not a shitty "do everything" CMS like it is now.

There are other options people - but they are not all free. You get what you pay for... Just because you pay for your plugins, it does not mean that the underlying core technology is anything more than a cobbled together, unstable and not very secure pile of shit. And when the people that make your expensive plugins disband and stop updating them every week - your entire site becomes a delicious target for malware and virus hacks.

I started using Wordpress in early 2005. Then I almost choked to death on their arrogance and irrelevance. Keep adding plugins! Keep upgrading! I am sure that it will all work 100% super well and fine!

THIS - I've lost track of the # of times I've had clients come wailing to me that their site spontaneously broke and that it must have been my code's fault when in reality they saw the update button on the backend and thought 'Oooh...new stuff! New must = better. I'll just click this and see what happens..."

Sigh...

this is the last WP upgrade since after this one all upgrades will be carried out automatically...

http://wordpress.org/news/2013/10/basie/
"Updates while you sleep: With WordPress 3.7, you don?t have to lift a finger to apply maintenance and security updates. Most sites are now able to automatically apply these updates in the background. The update process also has been made even more reliable and secure, with dozens of new checks and safeguards."
