Anyone use GIMP for photo editing and design?

What do you think of GIMP?

love gimp, lots hate it

however, if you don't know what you're doing, apparently free software has a much larger user base, all doing their very own 'support channels' on youtube

I read a couple of reviews saying it was unintuitive.
That usually means the user didn't want to read.

GIMP is cool. I use it. Inkscape is cool, too, but that's another thing...

yea there is a lot to the manual.. i had mostly situations of 'i wanna do this', find the youtube video with step by step details on how to do 'this', and getting things done that way

my understanding is that it is very close to PS?

Downloaded it. Couldn't use it. Went back to MS Paint.

I use it in a pinch if I don't have Photoshop already running. Wouldn't use it as a replacement. There is also a good Chrome extension like PS.

Have used gimp exclusively for all my designs, paysites, galleries, editing, etc for 15 years.
