My Hack Pro mini is about half (or less) the price of the current mac pro, almost a third of the price for the new one coming out...

Rochard 10-30-2013 02:04 PM

On the site you pointed out....

The top MAC gets a score of 1344 (http://novabench.com/topmacs.php)
Yet the PC boxes (Windows) get a score of 3554 (http://novabench.com/compare.php).

At that point, why even compare the two?

The PC is not only less, but twice as better.

Not for a third of the price, no. But because I can make a better performance bike for less doesn't make every factory Harley owner a lazy, ignorant, moron like mac owners have been labeled here lately.

In fact my lazy, ignorant, moron ass is going out for dinner now. Even thou I can make it for less at home.

Hard to compare building your own bike to just ordering another brand computer...
Now if you could order same quality/same parts bike for 1/3d the price of Harley and would not do that - then you might be stupid for overpaying 3 times. However such bike does not exist. While such computer exists.

You can order the same quality parts and build a pretty comparable bike to any Harley on the road for half the price or lower if you know the right people, but you're also not getting any warranty, customer service, etc., etc.

As a recent MBP buyer, I'm very happy with the purchase.

A bentley is better, more powerful, faster, etc..

adendreams 10-30-2013 10:57 PM

Only those like me who use top end PC's and Mac's side by side know the real pros and cons. My Hacky smokes most Mac Pros at far less than half the cost, and my fastest PC is faster than any Hackintosh possible.

But when you are building machines with this level of speed, the difference in speed between the top macs and top PC's is trivial - it comes down to the Mac OS just being very superior on many levels - but I will always like the file handling navigation menu's in a PC better.

You do realize that it's pretty dumb to try and compare building a PC to building a motorcycle right? I mean, seriously, try coming up with an analogy that actually makes sense and fits the comparison you're attempting to make.

Funny, every single one of my PC components is under warranty. And again...
What happens if your mac motherboard dies? Take it to the mac center and wait who knows how long to get fixed. Oh and LOL at customer service...
Most of those Apple care techs barely qualify as Entry Level.

Depending on where I bought my motherboard, I can either take it back where I purchased it and have it replaced, or have a new one shipped, etc.

Same with every other component inside a Mac as opposed to inside a PC.

Oh, and my more expensive parts have advanced RMA options where they'll overnight me a new part before I send the defective one back.

What happens when your warranty is up though?
Mac: time to buy a new one.
PC: replace 1 part.

Time and money saved no matter how you swing it.

Oh, I wasn't even trying to compare the highest end PCs to the highest end Mac's. There is no comparison. At all. If I spent the amount that a Mac Pro costs on parts for a single PC, that Mac won't even come close. Not by a mile, or 10.

My current system is more or less a "budget" build. Not because I wanted to save money but because I don't need all the options of a, say, full sized atx. I don't need 4-5 PCI-e slots, don't need SLI/Crossfire, etc. I also wanted it to be as compact as possible without taking away from performance. The end result though is that my mini-ITX motherboard and other hardware perform better than a fullsized, "high end" Mac Pro.

Also, I wasn't comparing PC to Mac as Windows to OS X. I like OS X, a lot. I also like Windows. And to be honest, I like Linux the most, but there are too many limitations for certain things I actually need. I use and stick with OS X because it basically gives me the best of both Windows and Linux together..

----------
At the end of the day, my PC runs OS X better than a real Mac does. Funny that.

There are no PC fanboys.

When one computer costs 2000$ and anoher cost 1000$ and they are +- same you do not have to be fanboy to buy the one for 1000$. You have to be fanboy to buy that one for 2000$.

DamianJ 10-31-2013 06:41 AM

Seriously, why the fuck do any of you care what computer someone else buys?

A Mac is still a PC, which has been his point. You are just too ignorant to accept it. :winkwink:
