Why would it? Justice system is not a revenge instrument. It's designed to change bad apples to good and keep society safe for the duration of that conversion.

That might be the thought behind the design, but today its just a breeding ground/training camp for criminals, with free food and TV

I did not say it should be about revenge. But the fact that you can commit murder and be out in under five years. Something is not right there. Simply to little time. Was my girlfriend murdered and the guy that did was released in five years. I would not know how to live with that.

I am not a fan of life in prison for most part and yes, the goal is to get people out that can enter the real world again. But serve that little for that crime. No way

Write letters to your elected officials at all levels of government. What's the political landscape like in Denmark these days? I'm asking. Write letters to the editor of all major news publications. Get your opinion in front of as many eyes as possible. Name the judge or judges involved who issued so light a sentence for so great a crime. Stir the pot. Cause an uproar. Effect a public outcry!

or to keep criminals away from good citizens, and if a killer only have to spend 4.5 years in prison to take another mans life. Cititzens are not safe. Put him away for 60 years, then when he comes out at 87 years of age he wont be any danger to the good and decent people

If the guy learns to live by the laws citizens should be safe. That's the idea behind imprisoning people. They should not have the desire to be punished again. I am certain Dansk law systems provides for sufficient resources to make that judgement when it needs to releasing a convict. They do screen them and keep them longer if needed. Some criminals just do mistakes and they deserve a second chance.

This is going to be the unrest of all! Fucked up on so many levels!!! They will be making shit laws up just to fill the seats. Oh wait, pot is still illegal in most areas, going to plan like they predicted and still building more prisons every year.........assholes:mad:

now we're seeing more stories of kids leaving school, and being taken to jail for 'gun hand signs' etc

I think someone here is arguing that prisons should be for rehabilitation.. i wonder what he thinks of a 7 year old in a jail cell for a 'gun sign'

I am well aware as i live down here in the wonderful south.....they are out of control with the money being made by the whole idea of "privatized prisons" Sic.
