Long CC Bill Linking Codes Don't Work In HTML5?
Working on my old TGP sites to make them responsive (already seeing it working by the way)...
And I just tried to link up to a DreamNetCash site with a banner (for Elli's site...one of my favorites) Link works fine on "regular" html: http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clic...32302-0003&PA= 2400756 &HTML=http://www.ellinude.com But when I put it on an html5 responsive page? Nope! It doesn't work at all. Threw it in a wysiwyg and got an instant error message that said: "In HTML5 the attribute 'http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clicks.cgi?CA' is not permitted" This can be very bad going into the future. I can't promote that site if it won't work on an HTML5 layout. CC Bill needs to look into that immediately as do all of you who use those long CC Bill linking codes. (Dreamnet doesn't appear to have any "short" CC Bill codes...and neither do a lot of CC Bill sites out there) |
Just asking without researching, but would changing those links to a shortcode work like bit.ly/sTUfF?
|
That's not a bad idea...let me try it...
|
FUCK!!!
My complete mistake...CC Bill codes DO work. No need for a url shortener. I had accidentally doubled the "http://" in the linking code. :( This thread is now officially stupid. User Error. |

I was working on category pages and had gotten down to redhead and was putting a banner on the side. So I was using the category before redhead as a template. I pasted in the CC Bill URL in place of the url from the other category. But missed the mark and left the old "http://" in place. So I had http://http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-b....ellinude.com/ And no matter how many times I looked at it...I didn't see that. That is until I had already made this post asking about whether they worked in HTML5 :1orglaugh |

Elli will be happy! ;-)
{Oh, I am sure you're happy and not pulling your hair out, too!} |
Why even use a URL shortener when you can just set up a short url service on one of your own domain names? In other words, why the fuck would you even consider using 3rd party services?
URL Shortener Service: Most people ain't clicking on THAT shit. Set up links on your own domain that point to redirects on the same domain = works just fine. Unless you are trying to fuck over Twitter, Facebook, or Youtube. Then it turns into a constant game. Whatever. I just got bored. |
I second that. Never use any 3rd party service if not really required for a very good reason.

Being a big fan of valid code, I like to swap the "&" in CCBill links for "&"
The links still work and they validate which is good for a number of reasons :thumbsup |
