Anyone Else Had Their Identities Stolen By Google?

I have had the same Youtube account since about 2005. As of today, Youtube has wiped all my subscriptions and is telling me that I am no longer allowed to make posts or comments using the name that matches the name from my eight year old Youtube channel.

Everything is gone - all of my bookmarks, my favourites, my subscriptions, and my friends - and someone else has my name. I can still login to Youtube and Gmail and Google+ using my original username - I am just no longer allowed to post or comment. Someone else is posting with my name now. Google is telling me I need to pick a new username to post with!

Wow! Excellent! Fuck the internet. It is a complete joke now. Fuck Google.

fuck google unlimited times to the ass

That's because you spell 'favorites' as 'favourites' and Google obviously hates that shite. I mean shit.

I guess unlike a lot of people here I only ever use youtube for entertainment and I am not a heavy user at that. Even so it is rapidly becoming useless between ads and nagging me about my username, wanting me to use my real name instead.

Youtube is for pussies

sounds like someone wanted an established username to lend credibility to their comments

seeandsee 11-07-2013 02:19 PM

Barry-xlovecam 11-07-2013 02:20 PM

their horrible agenda of collecting identities and join accounts to get a complete database of real names, identities, and everything you do on their sites goes on. Complete, real identities are worth huge amounts of money. Fuck them.

brassmonkey 11-07-2013 03:55 PM

I sometimes get password reset requests on my gmail, and a ton of mistaken mail, along the lines of this xkcd comic.

I'm vaguely concerned some idiot is going to bug google about it and they're just going to hand over the account to get rid of him

did you took your pills today faggot?

baddog 11-07-2013 04:33 PM

Have not experienced any of these problems . . . and I have multiple G accounts. Find it hard to believe you can have multiple nicks on GFY but not able to figure out how to do it with G.

I had a six year old Youtube channel with 50 videos set up with google monetization paying around $300 on month. One day I find that I can't sign in so I write to Youtube and I get this.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for writing in.

Dear Youtube

I have had my email for six years and never used my email for any other Youtube or Google related sites.

The channel is still up and my videos are still making them money and my adsense account shows $0 :321GFY

^ did you use the same phone number to verify different google accounts? the same email as a secondary email on more than 1 google account?

you gotta set up a whole new 'person' for each google account, that is standalone from anything else google related (if indeed that may be what's happened here)

I would go to their local office if I were you. There is no way to actually contact anyone unless you go to their office.

Went to one of those google gatherings and the biggest point of contention was the lack of communication and also shit like what happened to you being pulled all the time.

how do you get paid from each of those accounts? Do you use the same payment information on each youtube account? Do you need a new adsense account with completly different info to monetize the video ads each time you create a new youtube account?

example - One person can create 100 youtube accounts, but, how does that one person get paid from those 100 youtube accounts?

I don't/wouldn't set up multiple accounts for say, adsense use, but eg I have an adsense account that is super clean and standalone, and other accounts for spamming affiliate stuff. I keep each very separate from the other, so that if one of my spam-use accounts gets shitcanned, they can't tie it to my other spam accounts, or my adsense account.

Not saying what happened above is because of spamming, but much like matt cutts once famously said "why would anyone have 20 websites", they (to my mind) think "why would anyone have more than 1 google account" - hence them merging them all, and any flag raised, however tenuous a flag that may be, is gonna wind up bad news. I'd hazard a guess that rather than the same email addy being used for more than 1 account, either the same phone number was used, or secondary email, on an account where a flag was raised.

Google, like surfers, is/are not your friend :2 cents:
