As a military veteran (US Navy, 6 years), I have mixed feelings about Veteran's Day...while I recognize the incredible sacrifices that so many have made, I am bothered that Veterans Day is used by warmongers to stir up jingoistic nationalism.

I'm also appalled at how poorly veterans are treated, particularly with regards to their mental health:

Here in Canada veterans are growing more and more pissed with the government for cutting pensions and offering "lump sums" of money in settlement.

It's becoming a national disgrace the way the feds treat our veterans these days.
