3 20yr old programmers build a better healthcare.gov in days

It doesn't allow enrollment, it just aggregates information.

Minte 11-12-2013 10:44 AM

I can only imagine what the hackers will do if/when they actually get the government site up. I watched a show about the FBI on Military channel the other night and the agent in charge of cyber-terrorism said that there are thousands of hack attempts daily.

Rochard 11-12-2013 10:45 AM

This doesn't work. It just asks for my zip code and then sends to a page with information. When I click on sign up it sends me to the provider's website.

http://www.thehealthsherpa.com/insur...48#plans/78618

Any fucking monkey can do this in about thirty minutes.

Yet the government monkeys can piss away over $600m dollars and 3 years and not get one to even do that much...

Remember, these are the same people that you are going to trust with all of your healthcare needs.. :1orglaugh

the fundamental hilarity here is, our government spent 500 million over a year, on what these guys did for free in days

so, to look at this in a capitalist sense, the kids are commies and a danger to the system, and the government is a shining example of capitalist success

JockoHomo 11-12-2013 11:12 AM

The government is a parasite raping the American people and yet they willing bend over and even provide the lube for it to continue - over and over again!

Wake up and smell the KY!

I believe the 600mil was for the whole infrastructure for the system - not just the website.

Not quite. Once you get past the sensationalist headline you get to see there's more to it than that.

Furthermore, we're using the government's data, so our site is only possible because of the hard work that the Healthcare.gov team has done."

But having a headline that says "Three programmers make bare-bones site that aggregates information out of healthcare.gov in three days" will not get as many clicks as "Three programmers make better site than healthcare.gov in three days" :thumbsup

They should have just given each of us $1 million and been done with it.

96ukssob 11-12-2013 11:32 AM

sure, ANYONE can have a "better" system built, but that wasn't the goal. it was to feed a colleagues company with millions of dollars on a system that was, essentially guaranteed to break, so they can spend MORE money to fix it.

And what is that comprised of? links to the IRS which already has us on file and the SSN which already has us on file.

I'd love to see the actual budget statement of what they really blew the cash on.

I am still a little bit confused at how this can cost so much fucking money.

We all know how the government works and how much money they can burn. I can see how this can cost money; The government wants to spend months planning out projects like this, hundreds of people will be involved, and being as this is a national project for all fifty states people from all fifty states have to be involved... Meaning lots of people taking plane flights, hotels, etc. And that's just planning.

But seriously, $600 million?

It's a $600 million dollar system, not a website.

System?????

LOL How many servers do you NEED??

Maybe they have a HealthCareSTDtube that is streaming STD videos and pulling a ton of bandwidth???

Maybe the "system" needs a Gold Hammer and Toilet Seat??

Who are we kidding if it came out they built it for $500, you would be complaining why couldnt they do it for $250? lol
When seriously considering all the things that had to happen, it wasn't your average site. And they are saying the people around Obama were blowing smoke up his ass instead of telling him the truth. He is the leader of the free world so he couldn't be sitting at a computer watching them work. People should be fired.
It should of been you can buy into medicare, it would of cut out all the bullshit but you cant do that when you had to run for president again in 2012 and needed the campaign money. They are all whores.

Its the people, hardware, lawyers, etc etc. They arent building a porn site. There is a whole infrastructure needed.

Wrong ,wrong,wrong.

If it came out to be $500..I and every other webmaster in the US
would applaud. If I found out that any of my managers were blowing smoke up my ass on my signature project they would be gone.

However, I don't push my signature projects off on someone. Once a day I take 10 minutes and make those people account for their progress.

Excuses are for losers.
