LOL @ our government
A few weeks ago someone posted up a link to "find lost money" your local state government was holding for you. I ran my name and my wife's name through, and much to my surprised discovered my wife had $300 coming from an old employer. Great. She filled out the form....
And we got a letter taking it will take 180 days to process the claim.
WUT?
The employer had all data except for a current address. They have her SSN and even her DL; and the state has this information too. Why isn't this completely automated? Former employer owes money to an employee, punch in a SSN, compare it to the IRS, get their last known address, done. Why does it take 180 days "to investigate"? What do they investigate? They look at info provided by her former employer, compare it to her claim, SNN numbers match, numbers match with the address the IRS has file, good to go.
Fuckers.
