god I hope not (I'm sure there are though)
Lubben cracks me up and pisses me off at the same time. She throws around dire stats with absolutely NO academic peer-reviewed research to back up her claims, and her cause is actually pretty condescending to the women she claims she wants to help. On her site you can apparently help a woman 'escape porn' by sending her a christmas basket, cuz it's not like these women are working for same reason all non-independently wealthy people do, to pay the bills :upsidedow
I think Lubben is a perfect case study of a woman who wanted acceptance and attention. She clearly didn't find it at home, or in escorting, or in porn, but she did find it in the arms of sanctimonious bible-thumpers.
In any industry there are safety concerns that need to be addressed and mitigated. I wish access to mental health care, drug treatment and income supports for those who need em was a priority on a public policy level because people who are healthy and strong tend to be less vulnerable to abuse in any area of life, both at home or at work, but selling books full of made-up facts and pink bracelets doesn't further any of those aims.
Oh yeah, and on the links page of PinkCross there are some 'resources' to help rid oneself of the scourge of homosexuality :1orglaugh
I'm all for orgs that provide income and health supports to people who need them but this agenda isn't about that. They start from the premise that anything other than monogamous hetero marital (prob missionary with the lights off) sex is a sin and work outwards from there. I don't believe they actually give a damn about the women they claim to 'help', it's all about a sex-phobic agenda and raising their 'saved souls' tally cuz jeebus apparently likes that sort of thing.
