The Best Android Tablet Under 200 dollars is...?
I would love your suggestions. This is for my mother in law. I was thinking of the Nexus 7. It's being sold at Walmart for right at $200 bones. Suggestions?
Surfing, e mail, games and reading is all she will be using it for. |

If Nexus 7 is $200 that is going to be the best bang for your buck. I have a Nexus 4 and have been very happy with it. My only complaint, is the battery dies fairly fast.

The one that is easiest to steal... :2 cents: |
I just picked up my first tablet a little over a month ago to take to the hospital when my wife went into labor instead of dragging the laptop. Picked up the Hisense Sero 7 Pro from Walmart for $129. It's VERY comparable to the Nexus 7 with the addition of the dual cameras, microsd slot, and cheaper. No problems so far.
1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core 1GB DDR2 & 8GB on board memory. 1280x800 resolution NFC, Bluetooth, mini HDMI, USB OTG and a fairly long lasting battery. Looks like the price went up, but I'd check in store. My local store still has a bunch at $129. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Hisense-Se...70BSA/25427874 I'd definitely recommend it for the price. |
Goto dx or tinydeal and find some monster for that money, pay for fast shipping and get it in 5-7 days....

Anything by Samsung. They have the best (and brightest) screens.

I've had the Nexus 7 for about two months now. I like it except:
1. The wifi kept dropping out - the fix was an app called wifi fixer; 2. It came with 4.3 Jellybean. When I upgraded to 4.4 KitKat, I could no longer watch Flash videos. |

its the nexus 7, you can get the 1st gen even cheaper than that
|
Is Kitkat 4.4 ready?

And its not like there aren't plenty of Flash videos and sites out there. I've been hearing about HTML5 being the new standard for almost 10 years now. Simply never happened. |

I can't stand devices that don't play flash.

I just bought my parents the Kindle Fire HD today on Amazon's one day only sale (seen on their homepage). Cheap, amazon integrated, so easy for my mom to use and understand, and plays Flash videos, Netflix, Youtube, etc. Everything a mom and pop would want to use it for...Great price point. One word of advice is to pay a little more and buy it without the annoying ads.
|
I have nexus 7 and is worth the little extra. go directly with google hardware faster updates.
|
If I didn't end up with the Kindle Fire HD I would have gone with the Nexus 7...But for what my parents need, the price point and integration with Amazon won me over...Especially with the sale they are offering today.

I just bought a couple galaxy tab 3 seven inch tablets. They work great and were on sale for 169 Canadian, so probably available cheaper in the u.s. I'm using them around the house to control some zwave lighting and some other home automation / home theater related stuff.

I use my Nexus 7 as a remote control for my Chromecast... that's about it. In all fairness, I never gave it a solid chance yet, I prefer my iPad mini and my wife uses our regular iPad. The next trip I go on, I'm making a point to take my Nexus 7 and give it a real solid chance.

A friend took Ainol Crystal 2 for 100 euros. Quad Core and 1GB RAM... nice...

I avoided installing the upgrade after hearing the grief my wife had with it. She still doesn't have it fully sorted out. Might take a factory reset. |
