Gun folks why is .22LR ammo in short supply?
 

Just got our kid a Savage .22 rifle for Christmas and finding ammo for it is proving to be a challenge, it seems like most stores are out of stock around here due to it being in short supply, anyone know why?

I'd have figured at this time of year ammo would be readily available for all of us buying rifles and such for our kids?

I've seen it hitting the LGS shelves more recently.

Honestly, just bought a rifle for our kid and saw that other one while I was searching around trying to find ammo near us, thought it was an interesting satirical comparison :)

I think some people are stockpiling. Other are buying up all the 22 ammo then reselling online.

Our local Big 5 gets theirs on Monday. Check with manager and get there early. They usually only have 4-6 bulk packs of .22lr at this store. Good luck!

There are many challenges our children face such as obesity, bullying in school, pressure to take drugs, teen pregnancy, and the list goes on an on. However one of the most heartbreaking dilemmas our children have faced in 2013 is 22LR deficiency. Yes it is true that despite the abundance of toys, food, go carts and video games that for some strange reason the stores cannot keep 22LR in stock and often must ration it to (gasp) 2 boxes per person per day.

You have chosen a fine rifle. The Savage 22LR will serve your child well for many years to come. One day your child will be ready to graduate to the next level of 2nd amendment expression and you can get him/her a Ruger 10/22 so that they have 25 rounds per magazine to make sure that little fucking gopher is really dead before approaching it.
