Adult is far from dead.

However, it's no longer our primary household income like it was in the early/mid 2000s.

It's now third on the list.

Almost completely given up on affiliate paysite sales unless it's just right there and little or no extra effort required. But there are other things in adult with a more solid market. It's not 2005 and definitely not 1998 but there is still money here.
