Was there a recent Google algorithm update? My sites got slammed....

Been busy with holiday stuff for a while & haven't checked Google placement for most of my sites, but noticed a bit of a sales lag lately.

Lo and behold - several of my centerpiece sites plummeted from top 5 in targeted keywords to somewhere around page 5. The sites bumped above them are the old low-quality Authority Sites like Pinterest, Amazon, Vimeo, Etsy, etc, that have extremely low relevance for the search terms. I've made no major changes to site designs or marketing, it's like last May's Penguin update (which was eventually "corrected" as applied to my sites) except even worse for me.

Anyone else get this effect? Normally I don't stress about minor fluctuations, but pretty sure this is hitting my bottom line at least for the time being.

Not me, I still get my 30 visitors from Google.

I recently noticed an increase of news sites appearing on adult terms, partly within the first 20 or 30 results there are 3 or 4 porn sites only.

Yup, mostly I'm seeing Amazon books, non-porn videos on Youtube & Vimeo, Wikipedia & Huffpost & Buzzfeed writeups, etc. Most of the porn doesn't start until page 4-5. Again, this is what happened earlier in 2013 I'm just surprised to see a repeat that's worse, if anything.

Horny surfers will have to go deeper through the SERPS or use another search engine. Even when Google wants adult webmasters tell how their sites should be to be user friedly, a horny user wants porn, not news.

About a week ago one of my sites took a small hit, but another started getting twice the traffic from Google. So if there was an update it liked me.
