how to stop spam and fake profiles?
 

so how do we best stop fake profiles and spam messages on forums and social comunitys???

If you are using wordpress http://akismet.com/ is brilliant. for the spam issues

For fake profile issue, use a email click to activate link. and maybe a recapture image on sign up as well.

I went back and forth on the 'click to activate' thing and my reasoning was if they can't be bothered to even click a link to activate their account , how active will they actually be.

I agree with bothead. If u have to pick just 1, then go with email verification.

well im using skadate and already have email verification, but stil some shitty spammers come and spam about watches and stuff...

add captcha for posting, that will reduce their fun
