Faking your Alexa url and rank

I came across this website www.itbit.com and tried to run an alexa query...

Once you search alexa for itbit.com, it shows you to another domain "atlantablueprint.com"
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/itbit.com

If you go to atlantablueprint.com it redirects to http://www.diazoplanroom.com/

Does anyone know how this works?

i dont know how this works, but i bought a domain off godaddy auctions, and it does the same thing for it. even though i have live site and not doing any redirects.
its been like this from last 2-3 years, i guess.

This looks like a error in their system. I know a company that can offers Alexa Rank "Improvement". A rank in the 50k range costs around $100.

If you sell links/blogposts it might make sense, some media buyers pay attention to the Alexa rank.

Yes for this reason. If you buy cheapest popunders of bad geo's you can make good alexa for very cheap (cost a little of hosting too).

Popunders? you can buy far cheaper than that to boost your alexa, PLUS, install a "add alexa toolbar" to your homepage and members area. Then your repeat visitors might have it installed and even further boost your ranking.
