I would love to buy this house.... and at the same time would feel so badly for the guy who is selling it. It must have taken him forever to build and I bet he'll be crying his eyes out when it's sold.

The guy is a moron. He gave up all of those hours for something that is just a waste of space...

It's called a hobby. You invest your free time into something you enjoy. In this case, he enjoys trains. I don't get that but all of us have a hobby. I have a neighbor who is building a freaking airplane in his garage.

Yeah, but many people give up those same hours to watch porn and THEY are a waste of space.

Exactly. I invested money I that case but it worked out great. This guy has tons of time and money into something and he won't get it back. It is not new or interesting. Just a waste to me.

The man has a piece of property worth over $3 million. He was obviously fine with trading his remaining time and money for personal enjoyment.

Life is too short to spend every second counting sheckles. Sure would suck ass to spend 50 years slaving over a desk only to die in retirement without fulfilling a fantasy.

I think this pretty much sums up what I was thinking also. My kids would love that for the 5 minutes before they broke it.

Looks badas.. Model trains are awesome, however once you build something out of them they get boring, at least for me...

No way..! Not a waste of time at all. Hobbes are good to have and this guy really out did himself. First he obviously loves what he does and second, I think its really cool to see him enjoy it the way he does. Why the hell not? I think its awesome.

if it was me i would turn the place in to a theme park.

put in a nice tea room - sell home made cakes and tea

put in a few more rose trees too.

then turn the house into a guest house and charge to spend the night there

not sure about the usa but in the uk there are HUGE amount of train nuts. we have people who go train spotting all day. that said we have bus spotters, crane spotters (as in those big crane things that build buildings), plane spotters and even truck spotters.

if that place was the uk he would be making a lot of cash of he opened it up to the public.
