Do you work behind the scenes in porn--in LA or Vega$? I want to photograph you
 

I'm shooting a photographic series of people who work behind the scenes in porn. So far, I've shot nearly 25 people (including agents, drivers, directors, video editors... I'm shooting an accountant who works in the biz in a couple weeks). I want to shoot 50+ portraits so need volunteers to sit for a portrait.

I'm shooting with a Hasselblad camera on b&w film, and making both digital and silver gelatin prints. If I photograph you I'll give you a print as a thank you for sitting for me. Please email me at marcophotola at gmail dot com if you're interested.

Why? What's the purpose?

1. Great idea!
2. Jim South looks good for his age! That guy has some goooood stories.
3. Ron has bigger boobs than the model he is posing with.
4. I suggest trying to get a pic of at least one or two boyfriends/husbands of some of the hottest pornstars. The average Joe out there would be shocked to see the losers the typical pornstar dates. (this coming from a guy who has dated a few, LOL) I am referring specifically to their suitcase pimps/guys who bring them to the shoot and pick them up ten seconds after you wrap the shoot.

1. Some of the people you mentioned don't work behind the scenes, they work front and center right in the spotlight of porn. (Max Hardcore for one)

2. You may find that many who work behind the scenes aren't willing to pose for pictures. They chose to work behind the scenes for a reason.


But good luck nonetheless. You're pretty vague about the purpose of this but best of luck. The pics you do have look great.

Max, as far as I know--and I photographed him less than nine months ago--is not front and center any more, and (as of May 2013) is just running his websites and not shooting new content.

Yes, some people who work behind the scenes aren't willing to pose--pretty much all the photographers I've asked have said no. I won't mention names, but some of them (three to be exact) post on GFY.


Point #4 is an intriguing idea--I'd never considered that, but it would be fun to shoot one of those guys and title it, "Joe Blow, suitcase pimp". But I don't want to embarrass anyone with these portraits... but then again, there's probably a suitcase pimp who thinks that being a suitcase pimp is just too fucking cool.


Why? Because I'm a photographer, and that's what photographers do--shoot series: thematically and visually linked sets of image.

I might be interested Marcop. I'm Max's web guy now. I was his video editor and dvd author for years and have been involved with the biz for 20+ years.
