How to get flash not to crash?

Hey everyone,

I assume lots of other people have the same problem I do. Flash always crashes.

No matter how many times I update it, or what browser I use, it is only a matter of time until I have to close everything and reopen to get that piece of shit flash working again.

I have had this problem since forever, and on multiple computers as well. I am so sick of this shit I am seeing if anyone out there knows how to get flash to work and not crash.

Is anyone out there able to figure this out? Does your flash not crash?

Restart browser and flash regularly helps.
Or dont use it.

Can't speak for firefox, but with Chrome, just turn off the default pepper flash that comes with Chrome and use the Adobe flash plugin and you will alleviate most of your flash crash issues. Go to chrome://plugins/ and disable pepper flash.

flash tends to crash if you leave a computer on for many days and ever restart your browser as long as you restart your browser every 2-3 days you should be fine.

have you cleared the asset cache?

One of them is (#1):
c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Adobe\Flash Player\AssetCache\

The other is (#2):
c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#sharedobjects

You can clear those folders out and it wont hurt anything.

Steve Jobs warned you but did you listen...NO!

If you use a crappy videocard, disable GPU acceleration.

Holy shit you guys, so much fantastic help. Thanks a lot I really appreciate it all, and even the Steve Jobs joke made me laugh, hehe.

You know I haven't tried it with chrome yet, I am going to see about using it and how it turns out.

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone, you guys are awesome (And helpful)

It's pretty easy to write flash code that crashes at semi-random times. AS3 is such a weird language, it bothers me that you can get inconsistent results with it. Shit should either work or break, this "works for 10 minutes then breaks" or "works half the time" stuff is nonsense. Unfortunately, there are a few key technologies that Flash provides that you just can't get otherwise.

I know what you mean, it is everywhere, not just in adult. Mine seems to work ok as long as I use it nonstop from start to finish. If I ever stop using it and then start again it causes a problem, so now I just leave an awesome internet radio station on to keep flash running.

lol

You can probably get flash not to crash by investing cash but most folks just keyboard mash and throw it in the trash, get brash, go on forums and bash.

Flash crashes? I... Don't have any problems, no crashes, or anything. For some time now really. I run Win7 with Chrome, only a few extentions.

InfoGuy 02-09-2014 02:47 PM

I think it's due to a memory leak in your browser, when running Flash over the course of a few days. Look at Processes in Windows Task Manager.
