So it seems someone had fun with my bank account details
Got a call from the bank last night, and it appears over the past couple of days someone has made more than a few transactions with my card details. First time it's ever happened to me, although i know of loads of people who have had it done to them before.
My cards have been cancelled and i will get the money back, but it's never a nice feeling knowing someone has went on a spending spree in your name. (Usually wifes do that i know). Fuckers! |
Happened to me two times.
Got cloned once at a McDonalds and another time at a gas station. Never online. It sucks and they don't seem to do anything about it. |
went through the same thing couple of months back. Got all my money back but was without a functioning card for over a week.

Buddy had his computer seized by the mounties because somebody used his card for CP.he had to wait a couple months for them to realize it wasn't him and to get his shit back.ridiculous

I've never lost any funds, but twice my "debit" cards have been comprised. The second card is a card i don't use often, so that was strange....
This is going to become a huge problem in the future. Eventually I see a day when we'll have to lock our cards to a certain locality, and if you plan on going outside of a certain area you'll have to call the bank in advance. I mean, obviously if my card is being used outside of the US it's not me.... |
That depends on where the card processing is though. I had my card locked because if what they suspected was an unusual transaction. It was in the USA for a company called namecheap!! Lol

This shit is way past needing help. I went 4 years without a charge back when I was doing well over 100K and now I get them every week doing fewer transactions. 5 different billers so it is not just one making shit up. something needs to be done now not later |

Why wouldn't it be you Rochard? You've never caught a plane?
I was caught out in Hong Kong not long ago. Bought a book at the airport, then arrived in HK and went to buy something and had it declined. Called the bank and they said "it seemed suspicious that you bought something in melbourne, then a few hours later would be in HK." I hit the fucking roof. Had they not heard of a plane? The purchase in Melbourne was from a business with the word 'airport' in the name for fucks sake. |
About a year in a half ago i lost my wallet. Got a new debit card. 2 weeks after turning it on
and not using it i got a charge of $120 on the card. I had a monthly payments setup on the old card for stamps.com They billed me for my monthly membership ship on the new card. So when i called stamps.com they told me the Bank Of America gave them my new card. So thinking stamps.com is full of shit i call BOA. After going through 3 reps finally got a supervisor on the line and he admitted BOA gave stamps.com my new card # Needless to say if you got a monthly renewal with any website and you get a new debit card the merchant can request your card # from the bank and charge it up to 6 months.... |

The banks stupid systems fail to recognise the fact that business is global. I pay for servers, software, BW, to different companies in different parts of the world, often I dont even know where their MID will be located. Then the banks "fraud" dept block the card because they decide that the card cannot be in two places at once. They have clearly not considered THE INTERNET ! This usually happens at the worst possible time, paying for a hotel or flight when travelling. |
My mate works for a bank.
he refuses to pay by card. he says just use cash. |

It's got to the point where it's best to avoid using ATM machines here since it happens to people so often. Which defeats the purpose of ATM's in the first place. Surely the banks could have better systems in place ?
