Robbie 02-14-2014 11:33 AM

Who else is planning on being in New Orleans for the show?

leg4 02-14-2014 11:59 AM

Thinkin' bout it... no decision yet.

NewNick 02-14-2014 02:23 PM

Same here, I am 50/50 on it. With all I have going on, doing 2 conferences in May (Miami + New Orleans) might be a bit much. I like the Florida/Miami show, so I attend that one each year. As I said in the other threads on these sort of issues, they need to spread these conferences out through the year. Specifically in the 2nd half of the year when there are almost no U.S. based shows. Perhaps attendance would be better.

Anyway, we'll see how things go.

stickyfingerz 02-14-2014 03:20 PM

Tempting. I've been wanting to get back to some shows again. See how smoothly the move to CO goes first. And I do love New Orleans. Maybe maybe.

izombie 02-15-2014 02:35 AM

I live close enough where I could drive to New Orleans for this show, I might have to think about attending if I have the money. I have never been to a porn convention before.

Maqua 02-15-2014 03:13 AM

2000 was a blast :thumbsup you will have a great time!!

izombie 02-15-2014 10:08 PM

Last time I was in New Orleans was 2002 and I went on a three day cocaine binge with these two strippers who were out of work because their club was closed down for remodeling, I almost said fuck my real life and stayed there.

Rochard 02-15-2014 11:07 PM

Someone is a bit excited to go....

ExtremeBank_Adam 02-15-2014 11:07 PM

We were thinking of doing this one (my wife loves New Orleans), but she wants to stay on Bourbon. Don't know if it's better to stay close to the convention and make the trip to Bourbon, or stay on Bourbon and make the trip to the convention...

I'm thinking it's just a few blocks to walk to Bourbon St. isn't it?

If you get a hotel downtown between the French Quarter and the Superdome its a short walk or a cheap cab ride to Bourbon Street, if I go that's most likely where I would try to stay.

ExtremeBank_Adam 02-16-2014 07:18 PM

I'm pretty sure the convention center is quite a ways from Bourbon St... especially late at night. :-)

Edit: Just checked Google Maps... from the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon (which is close to Canal St.) to the Marriott Convention Center is 1.2 miles. A little too far to walk. Decisions, decisions...

12clicks 02-16-2014 08:11 PM

Eh, on the fence. I'm going to Miami and wanted to do N.O. Again for maradi gras, not necessarily for a show. We'll see

Chris 02-16-2014 08:17 PM

the sponsorship package is awesome for this show
filled with events

C H R I S 02-16-2014 08:29 PM

We'll be there and most likely sponsor as well

At the first show in 2000 I stayed at a hotel that was part of the convention center on the river. I was right across the street from Harrahs.

My foggy memory isn't letting me remember which hotel it was...but I walked right across the street to Harrah's.

I remember walking to Bourbon St. and going to The Gold Club.
It was actually fun walking there and seeing the sights.

We had brought some big titty whores with us from South Carolina...so at night when we attended the parties and stuff we took cabs (because they had their high heels on and couldn't walk that far in them).

But I don't remember it being any big deal walking to Bourbon with the girls in the daytime when they had on flip flops. :)

RyuLion 02-17-2014 04:27 PM

Can you walk around with a alcoholic drink there?
What positive laws do they have? :2 cents: :pimp

I haven't been there since 2000. But back then I was buying "Hurricane" drinks from outdoor bars and walking down Bourbon St. drinking it. Not sure if you can still do that or not...but I think you can.

Thanks Robbie, Yahoo Answers FTW!!!
:2 cents:
You can drink on the street - like if you want to take a drink out from a bar, but it has to be in a plastic cup or can - no glass containers. the drinking age is 21, but an 18 yr old can get into a bar - just can't buy a drink.

there is an open container law which says that you can't have an open container in a car, but you can buy a drink from a drive in - you just can't stick your straw into it or take the lid off because then it's considered an "open container". Weird, I know!

New Orleans is lots of fun - I really like the French Quarter during the day better than at night. There's lots of little shops and restaurants and open markets. Locals don't hang out in most Bourbon St. Clubs like tourists. Like in other big cities, if you stay where the action is (people), you'll be fine. Avoid the small streets where there aren't any people. Don't act like a drunk tourist and you won't have any trouble.

Be sure to ask your hotel for a Gambit Magazine or some other info for attractions that aren't in the French Quarter. There's lots of other stuff to do. There's probably a festival somewhere closeby. The city isn't very big and it's pretty easy to get around.

We must have a similar law here in Austin. I know of a place where you can get margaritas through the drive through. Craziest thing.

ExtremeBank_Adam 02-19-2014 08:57 AM

Think we're changing our plans...

Gonna drive our RV to Oklahoma the weekend before for Rocklahoma. That runs May 23-25, so we'll start heading back to Florida a couple days before the Internext convention. Depending on where we're at, maybe we'll swing by New Orleans for a few days. It will probably depend on how we feel after Rocklahoma. We've never been, but heard it's pretty crazy.

Saves money on the flight. :)

Back in 2000, 2001, 2002 I lived in S.C. and used to book my rooms and flights for everyone in the company in Sept. for the Jan. show in Vegas.

MrPotatoBread 02-19-2014 04:43 PM

New Orleans is awesome. I'm thinking of hitting this one. The place is a bit dirty but it's truly a blast and a half. I can't think of a better place to party or have fun other than maybe Vegas to be honest. Great food, culture and fun.

1998 was my first show. But the 2000 one in New Orleans was one of the very best. It was just non-stop fun.
