Industry Focused PHP Conference
 

Hey all,

I just posted a new thread in the Mainstream Biz forum about an industry-focused PHP conference we are looking to hold in Vegas in Jan 2014. I know most people don't check that forum out as much, but I'd love to hear your feedback if you want to go check out the details -- feedback welcome.

In all seriousness, the number of skilled PHP developers in adult is fewer than 10. Even if we all showed up, we mostly know each other and there's not a ton to do. What's the idea here?

Obviously I meant 2015, my bad was just a typo.

Well, the idea here is that there are some pretty serious web shops that deal with adult and sure there may be 10 of you who are skilled and all know each other but certainly there are a lot more than 10 developers out there doing PHP for adult who's employers might find it valuable to get their staff educated. I'd personally love to see some like yourself and the other 9 presenting to those less skilled as I'm sure those who are talented and work in this industry a lot have a ton of useful experience to share.

We hire more than 30 PHP developers, and all of them are doing adult mostly :) Hope your conference sees the daylight :thumbsup

It's a noble idea but I don't think it will work out...The adult industry is not that huge to begin with. Then you've got an even smaller number of php developers, and an even smaller number of those that would be willing to spend money to go to a conference with no or little perspective of drumming up any business for themselves. Most large cities have some programmer trade shows from time to time anyways and it's not like php is coded any differently for porn, or securing code is done in any other way... Even if I was in Vegas I probably wouldn't go to this.

What would be the advantage of us doing that? Just playing devil's advocate here.
