i love google

Feb 6th actually gave me some more sales... For a change... Wanna know my secret? I didn't touch my sites for months!

New rules of seo: no (Or not more than 5) backlinks...no updating and no great content... It's sad but apparently true...

And btw... Title is sarcasm :-)

SEO is really dead.. no sense anymore whatsoever!

Creatine 02-17-2014 10:32 PM

It's ridiculous how people can get a few high PR backlinks and outrank real sites with content.

I prefer google to rank websites that update more with more content higher in the ranks.

PiracyPitbull 02-17-2014 10:42 PM

On one of my paysites I did approx one week of writing thick original content, minor SEO to title tags and descriptions and Google recommend site adjustments. Maybe it takes a while but so far Google has rewarded me with 40% less impressions. They rock for sure.

Google porn reviews, it doesn't make sense.

SpicyM 02-17-2014 11:04 PM

No one looking for porn wants to read stories. They want to masturbate and Google serves them what they want.

I put some serious Seo work in one of my sites ! A week ago my site recived a lots of organic traffic from google but starting from the last friday I don't get even a single visitor from google! SEO is changing everyday!

lucas131 02-18-2014 05:16 AM

for me it is more like nats stopped counting seo hits :) i am having tons of great serps for some new sites, but from first serps possitions i am having like 5 hits per day? wtff? not wanted to get mad, so leaving this fucking topic ...

Google does weird things sometimes.

All you have to do is focus on building a decent website.

Yo Adrian 02-18-2014 09:16 AM

Stronger links = stronger rankings.

Not easy or cheap to get, but they're the core of Google's algorithm no matter how much they preach otherwise. Google would rather we spend all of our time writing content, nudging banners below the fold, worrying about content scraping (Google scrapes loads of content and profits well from it) and trying to figure out why shitty competing sites rank better than yours (they have a patent on randomizing search patterns to create uncertainty) than spending time getting good links. Strong links are the one remaining thing that can game their system and they know it.

nastyrabbit 02-18-2014 09:56 AM

I don't care about seo no more...just build sites, add some useful content, and see what comes.....can I influence what google sees i my site? No. So WTF....

I agree with you 100%, its like steroids, they are only banned in competitive sports because they work.

I've been making money from them but the thing is it hasn't been my own sites. (I'm not saying anything more) It's ridiculous how some of their own properties completely take over page 1 for certain phrases. I don;t mean just #1 or #2 but #1 - #10 save for maybe one listing.

Yeah, this has been getting egregious for many search terms - it's their own platform and they can promote their own properties or others they have relationships with ("Authority Sites"), but it's actually leading to irrelevant and low-quality search results especially within adult. Also Google of all companies complaining about sites scraping content (not that I condone it myself)... well what can you say there!

The other issue is just how volatile some placements are. I've seen quality well-aged sites fall from top-5 target keyword rankings to buried pages & pages deep overnight, with no major changes to content or links. Then a week or two later they're back near their original spot or somewhere in between. Then back down again. Rinse & repeat. This is just a week to week thing, not unique to their major updates.

Adrian's correct that quality links are still a factor, but overall webmaster control of placement has plummeted the past year or two and the ROI of SEO has gone down accordingly.

Looking at this from the searchers point of view if someone is looking for" Miho Lechter" in a movie called "Happy Couple", Google should show the correct results whatever the webmaster has done or not done (within reason)

When it fails to do this - it is failing at its reason to exist.

Some times you can type the name of the website www.website.com and the result not come up....

DaCaptain 02-19-2014 12:04 PM

Google is actually pretty simple, back links have always been a main factor and they still are today:

Of course, not all links are equal. There are a few rules that a site owner needs to live by when getting back links.
