I fucking hate the way Woody Harrelson talks in True Detective

It's like his jaw is wired shut or something, it's so annoying.

just watched some trailers , looks good thanks for the tip

voice sounds like woody with a southern twang

J. Falcon 02-26-2014 06:20 AM

Sounds like he used to in Cheers

Pseudonymous 02-26-2014 06:38 AM

I thought it looked like he had chew under his lip, but yeah i also find it rather distracting/annoying

campimp 02-26-2014 07:25 AM

yeah, his voice does bother me too... definitely sounds like he is chewing some dip, maybe he just got his ass kicked too many times for being a dickhead cop through the years :)

other than his voice, i think the show is fantastic, and definitely becoming one of my favorite shows ever... HBO does not fuck around

bronco67 02-26-2014 07:32 AM

I'm wondering how he's getting all this hot ass. Married to Michelle Monaghan, banging Alexandria Dedario and Lili Simmons. It's a stretch.

seeandsee 02-26-2014 07:34 AM

he is fatal bastard :)

John-ACWM 02-26-2014 09:36 AM

Sounds like he is an amazing actor :) one of my all time favorites. And Matthew McConaughey by his side, a great TV series.

NEW XTC 02-26-2014 09:37 AM

ever been to texas - they talk like they just got kicked in the jaw by a mule

CDSmith 02-26-2014 09:58 AM

He sounds a lot like he did in The People vs Larry Flynt.

cops attract hotties, some kind of thrill for them I guess:winkwink:

Antonio 02-26-2014 11:11 AM

Pain in the ass if you are foreigner - it's like watching Trainspotting all over again, you have to listen real hard or you are going to miss half of the dialog

mikesouth 02-26-2014 11:25 AM

It amuses me that people who have never set foot in rural TX or LA are whining about his accent....

It took me a bit of watching true detective to determine that MM wasnt just overacting...so far its a good show...I know where they want you to THINK its going but I kinda doubt thats where its gonna go

javbucks 02-26-2014 11:42 AM

I saw some clip about the show and it looks good but I don't get what it's about

This is very true. One of my good friends is a cop. A guy he works with is a kind of mousy looking dude with a bad 70's mustache and thick glasses, but he has hot chicks literally fighting over him. He has been married twice and both times they were hot. Now he is single again and he had a smoking hot girlfriend that looked a lot like Jessica Alba. While they were together he arrested a hot stripper who ended up aggressively pursuing him because she wanted him to bang her. Those two girls ended up in a fight in the police department parking lot.

That uniform drives some women wild.

It starts off with two detectives investigating the murder of a young woman. She was tied to a tree with antlers on her head and all kinds of strange symbols and things around her. As they dig deeper and deeper into the case we learn a lot about the guys and their lives (and how they seem fine, but are fucked up) and how the case may be much bigger than they thought.

mineistaken 02-26-2014 01:52 PM

So you could do better LA accent? You got talent then :)

Watched the first episodes, I like that it's dark and not too standard-detective-Hollywood-crap.
Harrelson is great, one of my favorite actors.

Yea. I have heard them called "holster lickers" and "holster sniffers".

stickyfingerz 02-28-2014 06:08 PM

Episode two Woody is wearing ray bans that just came out like 5 years ago in the flash back to 95 or whatever year it is. Shit like that annoys me. lol But other than that I love the show so far.

What is next? He would be wearing a jeans in 1995 flashback that came out in 1999?

Yes I was thinking this as well. He is a lowly state police officer and not good looking. No way he was scoring that quality of females. By the way thanks for listing all the names of the actresses as I have been wanting to rub one out to that most recent girlfriend of his and did not know her real name. Lili Simmons. :thumbsup

She's also in Banshee, and has bared all in that show a couple of times as well. Very hot, and seems to be quite a talented actress.

I love this show so far. I think I see the misdirection. The show name is a clue as to what is really going on

He is a detective and good looking (although character and actor are different things, it depends on how director wants to present him, sometimes character is good looking according to the scrip, but the actor is not so much and vice versa. So we do not know how it is in scenario).
Also character is most important in scoring hot chicks, if you are confident than you can score hotties all the time, being average looking. Plus cops and especially detectives are very liked by big portion oh chicks.

I wonder if mikesouth and Phoenix got what they expected:

https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=19996840&postcount=21
https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=20000336&postcount=32

I think not as they implied something cool, but it all ended without any conspiracies and just rather with "regular" (not Woody, not his daughter, not Rust etc) killer :)

To me it ended exactly how it needed to end. To have it be some kind of last minute surprise would have been an injustice. The story was never about uncovering some greater conspiracy and trying to shock the audience with a surprising revelation of who did it. It was a meditation on obsession, self destruction, and redemption and in the end that is what we got.

In the end they got their white whale. They were left scarred from the encounter and it cost them both greatly, and while they both are left with a little bit of a bitter taste in their mouths, they finally were able to find peace, redemption and maybe even happiness.

Hilarious parody.

Perfect summary. The case was secondary compared to the big ideas this show had to offer. I'll be watching anything Nic Pizzolatto comes up with next.

I agree, was just busting balls of those who pretended to know where it was going, but did not bother to reply when asked :)

How many actors play Woody and Rust in this clip?
And do they switch? As in one actor is Rust and later the same actor is Woody?
Confused me, even after watching it 2 times :)

There were so many conspiracy theories surrounding this show that after the finale ended there was actually a trending topic on Twitter suggesting that the way Woody's ex-wife held her hands when she came to see him at the end suggested that she had some kind of involvement in it.

It was crazy.
