Eric Sogard is the Face of Major League Baseball
Not sure if anyone else got into this crazy tournament style Twitter contest that MLB held over last few weeks. I got hooked because my favorite player Felix Hernandez nearly made it to the finals. Basically you send out Tweets everyday with specific hashtags #FaceofMLB and the player that you want to win (see bracket here http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/awards/y2014/faceofmlb/) and all votes are counted in real time and eventually you have a winner. But here is why I bring it to your attention, some pretty funny shit has come from the tournament now that makes me laugh. The fans out in Oakland, CA have somehow Tweeted to push their player Eric Sogard (basically some nerdy guy that nobody ever heard of) to be in the final match up against New York Mets' David Wright (the all-american great baseball player). As I post this Sogard is leading the way to victory at 55% to Wright's 45%. There are already stories being published about how this has backfired for MLB and becoming pretty silly to see this guy as the "FACE OF THE MLB" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh
