Digital Video Fingerprinting - Can it be done at a reasonable price?
I've been researching DVF for a bit now and it seems like every service is ridiculously expensive. Is it it even possible to do it for a reasonable price? I saw something about a group of producers that got together to share the cost, but they didn't mention specifics.
Anyone info would be much appreciated. I'm mainly going to be selling in Clips4Sale and similar sites. |
i'd be interested in learning about this, too.

Do you need digital fingerprinting or rather digital watermarking?
|
I can watermark just fine, looking for more info on fingerprinting - thanks :)

Fingerprint won't protect your videos to be displayed on pirat tubes, file lockers or torrent.
But if you fingerprint it or watermake it with the name of the purchaser at each purchase, you will be able to track who is sharing for free your videos. |
Simply, the cost of rendering every video each time someones watch it...
Very stupid resources usage, in my opinion. |
Are you just looking for a way to generate video fingerprints for your own comparison?
Never used it, but there's this open source library: phash.org For example, fingerprinting is used by a site like Youtube to quickly determine if you're uploading a duplicate video. It's not really useful unless you're the website that's actually hosting videos. It's just a way to roughly tell if two videos are likely to be similar. |
For those interested, we built a digital fingerprinting service for our own website and it works flawlessly, none of the videos we sell ever appeared online because people cannot remove the personal watermark. We're using it for our own site where any studio can offer their content, set the prices, very much like clips4sale, but all videos and pictures are watermarked automatically.
We're currently developing a system that will allow other websites to use our services for that, but this is still being developed. If anyone's interested, just contact me and let me know. |
DVF is only for identify your videos. Its a kind of invisible watermark. Its for compare and validate ownership rights. But if you use it for your videos, its not enough to do just like this. Its only useful if you have the right tracking software and servers. Google isn't enough for this.
If you like to prevent your videos from copy and downloading you need to use another technology. |
