Changes coming to AWE (backlinks)

I don't promote them. I don't recommend promoting them but I thought maybe some people would appreciate the heads up.

Looks like they are up to something.

Quote:

Dear Webmasters,

Over the past years the number of backlinks pointing to our websites has reached a critical amount. While we appreciate all your efforts made so far we must comply with recent changes adopted by search engines.

In order to avoid any restriction we will contact you whom we can find AWE links hidden behind grey and/or black hat SEO solutions and will ask for their removal. It is our intention not to simply de-index these toxic backlinks but to discuss any matter and see they are being removed.

This is not going to affect the tracking of clicks, sales, or any regular Affiliate work but it is even more important from now on to respect the Google webmaster guidelines when linking our properties.

Soon there will be an update about this in our Terms of Service as well.

Should you have any questions, please contact the AWE Support.

Best regards,

AWE Team

In my world I see it as an attempt to get people to switch out all hundres of thousands of back links to livejasmin.com which as of right now ranks a lot higher than jasmin.com. There are simply too many back links to LJ, and web masters are too lazy with switching to Jasmin, since the affiliate links/tools works anyway. But they do not get the seo juice they used to, but no one would support them/help change out their links to them if they came out and said that right out.

They don't need too if livejasmin.com 301 redirects to jasmin.com. The link juice still flows.

I thought there was no such thing as "negative SEO".. So why would links back from other affiliates' websites be an issue?.. :winkwink:

Why would anyone link to them without rel=nofollow, either?.. :upsidedow

Well.. Blackhat is different. I can build a new blog and send 10,000 links to it gradually with some php, which usually brings my blogs to page 1 of my targeted terms. Then crashes in about 3 weeks. :Oh crap

I need to learn more blackhat :upsidedow

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to make part of it about people not being allowed to use nofollow. Some other scumbag company tried it and sounds like something AWE would attempt.

"It is our intention not to simply de-index these toxic backlinks"

awe cant deindex the links - the only "person" that can do it is the applicable search engine,
and whats the point of deindexing a link, when it wont make any difference unless you "tell" the search engine,
dear sir/madman, this site has a dodgy link, (or lots) because the search engine will know long before anyone else ?

Hi there,

The reason behind this decision was to protect our brand. The major search engines change their guidelines from time to time and we need to adapt. We feel it is better safe than sorry.

If you have any questions for us, we remain at your disposal.

Have a nice day!
