How to fix panels at internext/xbiz etc
Read this and substitute "Internet" or XBiz" for every SxSW reference.
You will get the picture. SO TRUE! http://www.theatlantic.com/technolog...e-else/284351/ |
Agreed, most of the panels are boring as shit, need to ramp em up to get decent attendance. Not only that, but how about imparting some knowledge, so the attendees can actually learn something ?:2 cents:

You need people on panels who can actually talk about doing something versus just giving the company line or sales pitch. Whether it's driving traffic, running a pay site, shooting content, things that might be engaging and useful versus the talking heads pontificating about how smart they are in vague nonsense. :2 cents: |

Seminars at trade shows are product pitches and nothing less. I initially posted this about 4 years ago.

Halcyon and I did some panels at SXSW which were rated very highly for being interesting and stuff :)
Like Barefootsies said, a panel has to have people talking about actually doing something and not just making a sales pitch. Have to give value to the audience at a panel or there is no reason for them to listen, if you do have a pitch. |
There was a time when our industry and the people in it were a LOT more innovative, it seems to me that we have gone from innovative to complacent at best, at worst we seem to simply lack the technically brilliant people and have an over abundance of salesmen selling stuff that was innovative 20 years ago..
