Building Porn Website from scratch

Hello guys,

I'm currently builiding a porn website from scratch, but I have some doubts and questions.
  1. How do you guys put porn videos in your website? You do it by hand? I ask you this because it can be, somewhere, a website where videos links are daily updated and that would give me more time for other stuff. Otherwise, I'll have to code crawlers.
  2. I do not like tons of ads. When I enter a porn website I always want to view porn videos and not tons of popups with cams and ads and shit like that. So, my frontpage will not have any type of ads, what do you think about that?
  3. Static thumbs simply does not work, do you guys feel the same? I want to view a few thumbs images before enter the video.
  4. What do you guys think about mobile/tablets versions? My website is currently totally responsive for any device without going for any subdomain like m.example dot com.

Thanks.

1. What do you mean, "do it by hand"? You mean upload them manually?

2. Are you building a tube site? Is that what you are considering when you mention advertisements on the front page?

3. Are you referring to animated gif previews? What were you wanting to know about them? Why does our opinion matter, rather than those of your users?

4. Responsiveness is important for any website, whether adult or not.

1. Best to find some way to get videos up without doing it all by hand; I don't have much experience with this but a friend told me this place

http://www.codecademy.com/

is a good starting point for learning to code.

2. Ads are bad, mmmkay? But - they'll make you money if you have traffic... Principles vs Economics, everyone has to choose eventually (:

First of all, thanks.

Yes. Is that the common way of having videos in non-business websites?

What do you mean by a tube website? I will have the typical categories and stuff, yes. But I will avoid things that I do not consider important.

It matters because you can become my user. :1orglaugh

Whenever I enter a website without gif preview (which is not a gif - I have to tell you), I want to view that gif whenever my cursor is on a video, so I would not have to view directly the video to see if I like or not the content of it.

I do know about other areas, not about adult content. :thumbsup
But I searched a bit around google and it seems that mobile devices are getting more adult users..which is good.

I don't need them. I have my owns coded scripts. :pimp
I was just checking if there was already any website always up to date with content (such as URL, Images, Title) so I could easily get them.

Hey, thanks..but I really don't need to learn to code, since I'm a coder already. :1orglaugh
As I said in the main topic, I'm developing a porn website from scratch and I would like to avoid common issues in the porn websites, such as tremendous amount of ads, logins, comments, popups, etc.

I did not said ads are bad. I said, by other words, that setting ads in a better place would benefit the user as well the owner of the page. There are better places to put ads instead of the frontpage.

How do you plan to make any money then? I always get a kick out of people who say they don't want to pay for porn and then in the next breath they say they don't want to see ads.

With ads. :winkwink:

As you may see in my previous answers my problem is not the ads, my problem is the way they are shown.

In frontpage there are no room for ads, or at least in my point of view. A good space for ads is the page of the video, where you have plenty of space.

This is my vision..I'm not saying it is the best..I can probably, in future, recognize I was wrong, but for now, this is what I will probably implement in my website.

1. You code an upload form into your page and make it accessible only by you (unless you want users to upload content).
2. For porn sites starting out, ad revenue is usually your only source of income. It is a good idea to not put obtrusive ads on your page when your building traffic, as it may drive users away. When people visit a porn site and they get bombarded with ads, they think viruses, and leave.
3. Multiple thumbnails are better than single thumbnails of course. Setting this up depends on your site's video player (jwplayer has an option for several thumbs)
4. Usually one would make mobile/tablet version to optimize accessibility for those devices. So if your website works fine on those devices, there's probably no reason to make mobile/tablet versions.
