Barcelona + beach

Just curious, what are the beaches in Barcelona? Is that a good idea to stay a week to see the town and beach a little with the kids?

Used to be a bit dirty.. but they've improved bigtime. not sure on water quality though.
You can always jump on the train for 30 minutes to Sitges for a nice beachday. Barca's got lovely parks, outdoor pools aswell. So kids are taken care of.

Dont know when you plan on going, but Barcas not as warm as the costas.

Barceloneta is the beach to see. As with all European beaches, it's semi-nude. Rest assured you will see long schlongs and snatches.

This is negative. I'm used to little town sea shore where you either walk downtown for pizza / fish or take a 10 min walk max to the beach. It's fucking hot summer time, so trains and shit = no bueno. Would be cool to live close to the beach and walk the promenade evening time to enjoy the views and food, sorta that.

Nice beaches after the end of May - You would have to wait until August for a swim in the sea though...

I believe July it is, August it might get too much hot and humid IMHO, no?
Say, in Italy I'd get +35C/28 air/water in Adriatic.

Valencia is like Barcelona but with better beaches and a more authentic Spanish flavor - Its also warmer and cheaper - Much cheaper...

I am cold bloodied - I doubt it gets to 28 in Barcelona even in August - I mean sea temp of course...

Its currently 13.9c - I think you can die at that temperature.....

Come down to Valencia...

I love the Beach in Barcelona, it has great restaurants and bars right there and it's only a 10 minute walk back to Las Ramblas where you pretty much want to be.
