? on new responsive layout for our FHG

I'd like to get your input on what we should do as we are remaking our FHG's for our sites. The old style templates work fine for 10" tablets and up, but don't do so well on anything smaller.

The backgrounds look terrible, everything else is fine.

I changed out the overlay to a smaller pattern, does that look better, or do I need to do something completely different ?? Thanks for your input!

When you shrink your browser window the lightbox ends up a fuck of a lot smaller than the thumbs. I'd try to get the picture to scale to 100% screen width, or better yet just make the thumbs fit the width of the screen when you get down into mobile phone range. I'd also just link to the images instead of using a lightbox at all. If they're on mobile and the thumbs are already scaled to the screen they're only going to want the large version if they want to zoom.

As an affiliate the thing I'd want to see is some kind of persistant call to action. At desktop size you pretty much always have a link visible while on mobile you'd have to actually scroll and look for it. Stick a footer to the bottom with the link?

I just tested this out on my desktop browser so I don't know if you're doing anything to maybe handle the lightboxes or whatever different on mobile, but if you're going for a real responsive design you've probably complicated things too much if you're relying on running a different script, at least in a case as simple as a gallery.

Great points! I'm going to remove the lightbox for mobile, I like that they can tag it for FB or Tweet it, but it doesn't scale with mobile at all :(

As for the call to action, I'm thinking since these are FHG I can have as many links as I want, so all the text area's will have a link to join. That way the most you would have to scroll is a couple of pics down depending on how small the screen is.

Thanks for your input Danny.
