Why even bother putting an Indian guy in a cooking competition show?
 

It's always the same. There always has to be 1 Indian guy or girl in the first rounds. Because political correctnes, diversity blah blah.
That person can cook exactly 1 thing. Curry. The first 1 to 3 rounds the jury is always impressed with the amazing curry. By round 5 the Indian has to go because they're looking for more than just curry.

Curry is my favorite spice,tho i didn't eat it in cooking form yet.

When I was in Jr high me and my friends would walk home from school on a busy street that was loaded with Indian restaurants & stores and we would pull our shirts up over our noses and run down the street because it smelled so bad.

One time at work I taught an Indian guy how to build websites and he thanked me by cooking curry shrimp over rice and he sat there and watched me eat it, it smelled like hot seafood garbage mixed with feces. 1 bite was all I did.

He is this incredibly camp indian queen - So camp I can't watch it...

He does do a good curry though so I try to watch him, when the cringe factor gets too high I just switch over....

Yeah custom curry spice as well,i using now fajita and wok version of curry.

There are some very delicate Indian dishes, perfumed with just 1 or 2 spices.

That like saying all hamburgers are mcdonalds. or the plastic sandwich from the 7-11 is the same as a highend NY Deli sandwich.

i like curry in some dishes...sometimes it is too much though. Thai curry with coconut milk is the good stuff.

I use curry every now and then, I like it. I'm far from describing it as garbage or feces.

Never had it, but going to buy some pre-made curry and try it out sometime.

Personally when I think of Indian food I think of naan bread and I think of blooming spices in oil.

There is a good YouTube cooking channel called Manjula's Kitchen if there's anyone actually interested in cooking Indian food. I think all of her recipes are vegetarian.

Curry is a colloquialism for spiced food with sauce - It didn't exist in India before the Brits arrived.....

There are 1000s of 'curries' and that is a small part of the range in India - There are 1000's of non curry dishes as well - You need to visit India - or London - to get a real taste of Indian food...

It's kind of like when they pick the ugly guy/girl who can sing on American Idol. We all know the better looking contestant is going to win in the end.

I eat Indian once, sometimes twice a week. When I want Curry, I go to the Thai place.

An indian guy almost won the last season of Masterchef here. He was the best cook on the show by far. Also, indian food can be epically great... Malai kofta, butter chicken, saag prawns etc... just need to get it from a good place like with any other cuisine..

Watch the Kitchen nightmares episodes with Indian owners or chefs, they are insanely delusional and proud of their shit food and establishments.

Every Indian chef thinks he's doing something amazing.
In the end it's just another Indian cooking, you guessed it, yet another curry.

A real chef can cook different styles from different countries.
Give an Indian chef anything other than his usual 10 or so curry ingredients and he is lost.

Almost. Right. Sometimes they have to give the impression that a chef from a backwards country can also win. Which of course will never happen.

Samosas are great. Say what you will about indian cooking but leave the samosas out of it.

Before this thread curry to me was just a spice that I liked to put on cooked chicken :)

Obviously for some of you guys it's not Indian food you don't like, it's Indians themselves. Why not just come out and say it?
