You really don't get a good idea from the pic how white it is - That is pure white flowers - So amazing...

Also yes, I know I need to tidy up the garden - My step dad will be here at the end of the month - He likes that sort of thing.....

There are mountains of them - The house was built on an orchard so they are eating pears...

It amazes me that it was not that long ago that this was rural orchards - Now it is central London - It is a problem every year how to deal with the fruit - We estimate there are 2 or 3 thousand kilos during a good autumn.....

EDIT: I didn't answer the question - They are the best pairs ever - Delicious...

Get a stall at a local foodmarket. and juice those fuckers to order at 2 quid a litre.

We've got a village orchard that gave us 7.5tonnes of apples last year. That's 3,000 litres of cider. Only 30 people in the village.

sell them at one of those market stalls.

EddyTheDog 04-03-2014 03:51 AM

There is no way of picking them - We harvest the lower branches but the rest fall and are not good for eating...

Every year we say we will make pear cider from them but every year passes and they are composted - such a waste.....

"no way"?

So, you couldn't contact a fruit whole seller and say you have x pears and they can have then for x if they come and get them?

You couldn't get some people with ladders and pay them to do it?

etc etc

There's always a way!

Manfap 04-03-2014 04:09 AM

There's a river cottage episode where they harvest from 60ft pear trees, you need a big bastard pole with a hook on it, and shake the branches.

Was strawberry fields here and they are in all the gardens almost as a weed.

Fruit trees are my favourite gardening thing. Fuck all maintenance but always loads off them each year.

beautiful tree and beautiful, wild, mysterius garden, love the wild, don't try to make it "right" ;)
is it london?

Why 04-03-2014 10:14 AM

damn, never seen a pear tree that big. we keep them nice and tidy in our orchards, so they are easy to harvest. i think max of 14 feet height.
