Inthecrack.com gets a major facelift!

Inthecrack is happy to announce that our site has been completely overhauled with an all new look and several new features. All of our videos are now available for streaming and the user interface has changed quite substantially. Please check it out.

http://www.inthecrack.com/Home

Note that you can browse every page on the entire site without a membership.

Our hosted galleries have also been given a facelift. If you are using our hosted galleries you should not need to change your links as they will automatically refresh to the new versions with all code intact.

More great new features are planned for the upcoming months. Stay tuned.

I have always loved your content, always absolutely amazing.

However, your site is a bit of a confusing mess. Join button is almost hidden, only one option for membership - is it recurring or not?

So much to say, I hope you convert better and am sure your site does amazingly well purely because of the amazing content!

The site is setup so nicely... then the most obvious part is missing... lol

Where da fuck is the join button?

MrDeiz 04-11-2014 11:50 PM

nice to see people are still developing their sites

Addressing the join link issue that people seem to be critiquing..... I believe that it is both discrete and yet obvious enough that people will notice it without being annoyed by obnoxious join graphics and blind links. Actually that's my biggest peeve with most membership sites. It seems that literally everything you click on sends you straight to the join page instead of what you were hoping to see when you clicked on whatever it was that caught your eye. When I see stuff like that I also cannot help but wonder what else they might try to trick me into once I have bought the membership and will the site be full of spam advertising and blind redirects. I think people don't have to be force feed the join page in order to find the incentive to buy. That only gets in the way of what really sells people on the site which is quality content.

Looks awesome! Great to see the site updated and more in tune with the content itself. :thumbsup

I will be hitting you up shortly for a revisit with the new features.

Btw found a small "bug" - on gallery pages like http://www.inthecrack.com/Collection/Pictures/929 if you click the zip file without being logged in, you get an error page.

Thanks for the heads up. We'll get that fixed.

Hey, I was just giving my input, I do love your content and always have. Hope the new design works for you.

You don't have to come across like a sleazy porn slinger by using a call to action button on your site (without scrolling).

Making it frustrating to find the main thing you want people to do is certainly unwise.

At the absolute very very least, you should attempt to approve or disprove your theory by doing A/B tests. A being your current design, and B being your current design + a large easy to see join button on every page. (top right corner imho).

I think you'll find you make more money with B.

You could do this easily with a third party solution like Optimizely (https://www.optimizely.com/ab-testing) and I'm sure there's many more.

Also, I see that as a free user I can see the size of the files and attempt to download them, but the download button doesn't function. This is a great opportunity to remind people that you're a membership based paysite that relies on its users to buy memberships. A little unobtrusive pop-up button could appear once per session when people click that download button, and provide a link to your join form. Without it, people aren't sure if your site is just broken or what. They may not understand your business model at that point. It just feels like it doesn't work. So that's bad user experience just as much as hitting them with a little popup is. Popup is a dirty word, it's just a little notification, could be very small on one line of text.

To me it looks like a site built for webmasters and not surfers. But I'm one of those guys that believes in linking everything to the join page... It's a very good looking site, but from my perspective it would not provide a positive ROI if I were buying traffic for it. Building a brand, converting organic house traffic... that's a different story.

Looking great. :thumbsup

trevesty 04-12-2014 11:42 AM

One of the best converting sponsors out there, and I don't even target for the "close up" niche at all.

looky_lou 04-12-2014 12:34 PM

Ooooops!!!! I think my surfers are going to be a little irritated by the fact that when they click on my thumbs, they are being directed to the tour instead of the gallery.

After reading this thread I decided to check out the new gallery design by clicking on some of the thumbs on my own sites. They all appear to be directing to http://www.inthecrack.com/Home and not the FHG that they are associated with.

I would say that is a little more irritating than a prominent join button. :(

FHG links work for me. Is it happening to just a few of your FHG links or all of them?

I noticed that FHG images are now smaller and the full size sample image for each gallery was removed from the new template. I can see the viewpoint of not giving away too much content, but is a single full size image or a short non-explicit teaser clip from each set too much to use as an enticement to join?

Nice job,looks great

All good ideas that we will revisit.....

The home page is where traffic lands by default if the requested page does not exist. In your case I'm guessing either you never used a proper URL from the last number of years or you are hot linking directly to an image instead of the hosted gallery. If your link is from 6, 7, 8 years ago then it would not surprise me if this does not work. You might have to update your links in this case.

Not sure when you changed your FHG link structure, but these type http://www.inthecrack.com/tgp/715xYOURCCBILLCODExd7454 were in effect on 11/29/2011 when I created thumbs for this gallery and any prior to that. They were links to FHGs. Not image files, etc.

Unfortunately it is way too much trouble to try to match up all my thumbs to the newer gallery linking format now, so I will just delete all of the galleries posted with the old link format. I really hate it when sponsors change the link format and don't carry the old links through when they change.

Webmasters: Be aware that if you have older FHG links like this http://www.inthecrack.com/tgp/715xYOURCCBILLCODExd7454 They are not working. The new link structure looks like this: http://tgp.inthecrack.com/hostedgall...e7fe5e/gallery

We just wrote a hack for those links. They should be working now.

Yes, I just checked them again before deleting the galleries and noticed that they where working now. Thanks.

Hopefully the new updated design of the site and galleries will result in some sales.
