Operation Choke Point
Looks like the DOJ is strong arming the banks in an effort to shut down certain businesses and porn is a target.

It looks like Chase is closing the accounts of adult performers that they've been able to identify. More specifically, Chase has been closing the accounts of adult performers and producers who have openly shot girl/girl scenes, which leads me to believe that Chase has something against gays/lesbians. Maybe a boycott of Chase is in order for being against gay rights? ;)

This was already discussed, am I wrong?

So the Department Of Justice is doing this under Pres. Obama's watch?
I thought this kind of shit was only supposed to happen under "conservative" President's and their DOJ's. :( |

If u read the article it's maybe, could be, they are guessing and adding in bankers statements that have to do with the real reason of the operation to cut pay day lenders and fraud.which is pissing bankers off because payday loans are big money. Think about it if that was job one why only chase?

The subject went from 2 banks to all they way up to the president who doesn't work at the bank. The whole purpose of the thread is now lost. Paypal did the same shit 10 years ago. Visa slapped on $700 fees too. |
This can't be right, I mean most in this industry support Obama and his administration, he would never do anything like close the bank accounts of porn people. Thus killing porn in the us.
Make it impossible to buy ammo, thus ending the right to have a gun. This would kill off a lot of business and make a bunch more people be on minimum wages, great plan! |

Adult is considered "high risk" for that because so many people do chargebacks. Has NOTHING to do with a person or business regular bank account. :) |
I was refused banking services because I am in the adult business like 10 years ago. Also, didn't Bank America do something similar to a bunch of people a while back?
This is nothing new. Is there any actual proof that this has anything to do with the government and not just some puritanical board member? |

There doesn't seem to be any actual evidence that shows that the DOJ has told banks to close adult stars accounts. If they had, why is it that Chase is the only bank acting? |
Quote:
Maybe you will believe an industry news source? http://www.xbiz.com/news/news_piece....l&q=Chase+bank Says Chase told them to leave and BOA refused her |
Quote:
That they got declined by BOA is no shocker. As I posted above, it wasn't too long ago that BOA purged most of their adult companies. |

If he isn't busy sending drones to kill people, or having the IRS target his opponents, or having the NSA spy on people worldwide...he's having the DOJ come after marijuana dispensaries and now porn stars bank accounts. The shine sure came off of him didn't it? |

Looks like Wells Fargo just joined the band wagon

To me it looked like the perfect formula. You take a little fear, mix it with some misinformation and then restrict supply and you can drive the prices through the roof. |

I know for a fact that Wells Fargo is (or was 10 years ago, and to my knowledge hasn't changed) comparatively friendly towards "alternative lifestyles" for a major bank, so that does make sense.

Did you know that Wells Fargo charges 0.3% fee for all deposits over $7,500.00 a month on their checking accounts? That is what I recall reading in their terms the other day, [x] bye -- for Deposits .3% :upsidedow |
Here's a new theory...
Chase is closing accts to get back at the Feds... http://business.avn.com/articles/tec...ds-558444.html |

To me the most logical explanation is that DOJ instructed banks to look at 3rd party processors and the risky transactions/clients they serve (there are *plenty* of non-porn entities that are very sketchy in that regard, some listed in that article). The banks - some of which do have a history of shutting down accounts via moralizing - are using that as carte blanche to get rid of undesirables don't fit in with their board's "moral guidelines". This isn't Ashcroft or Meese's DOJ, these guys don't give a shit about porn, this one's on the banks. Quote:
