Once again, which Domain Registrar is currently good?

I need to transfer number of domains from Godaddy as their current pricing makes huge money wastes, especially for domains that are just simple websites or only parked names.
Not going to pay hundreds of $$$ to Godaddy for nothing.

Registrar must offer free privacy, .coms for no more than $12 and be rock solid/reliable.
Which registrars do you use and for how long are you with them?

Thank you in advance for any recommendations.

anexsia 05-03-2014 04:18 PM

Find promo codes for Godaddy and just keep using them and then when the renewal comes up transfer to Namecheap.

wehateporn 05-03-2014 04:25 PM

I haven't tried others, but that's because Name Cheap has always been so smooth

mopek1 05-03-2014 05:02 PM

Does namecheap give free privacy and does it cost a lot to transfer many domains from godaddy?

Once upon a time it was a battle between Moniker and Namecheap...... now, no-one is touting Moniker.

NameCheap rules and has done for many years... :thumbsup

Privacy isn't free at Namecheap. But if you have more than 100 domains there you can ask for the GOLDDEAL privileges which takes privacy down to 99 cents from $2.88. Also for dotcom renewals you can get it down to $9.51 ($9.33 plus 18 cents ICANN).

They have only one security option, which require you to have smartphone, and which rely on third party(google)which can gone at any time.

Thanks for the reply. (Thanks PSD too)

$2.88 isn't bad compared to godaddy's $9 or so for privacy.

How much are .com renewals normally if $9.51 is the reduced GOLDDEAL rate?

:)

used a bunch, namecheap is by far the best for many reasons. free whois privacy for the first year, decent pricing, , easy to use, no weird registrar bullshit.

jscott 05-04-2014 10:55 AM

Internetbs is also my fav lately
2nd for me is Namecheap

Cyber Fucker 05-04-2014 12:19 PM

Thank you all for the recommendations. That plus some reading I've done on other forums made my decision easy. :)
What it's really sad is Godaddy focuses on marketing and not on providing solid support, especially for people with large portfolios that were with them long years. They threat people with dozens or even hundreds of domains same as $10 customers with 1 domain.
Bye Bye GoDaddy.

When I renew it says $10.69 (with a slash thru it) and the reduced GOLDDEAL rate next to it.

Thnx for checking back and answering my question. Definitely don't like 3rd party authentication.

Try a different webbrowser! I had the same problem before I tried that.

TheDA 05-05-2014 02:54 AM

namesilo. Cheap front page price and you can negotiate a further discount for bulk. Whois privacy is free for the duration of the registration also.
