Does anybody need a WordPress plugin which...
automatically parses 3rd-party webpages (say sponsor-hosted FHG's), finds all full-sized images there, uploads them to your host, crops the thumbnails, generates a standard WP gallery, inserts it into your post/page and also assigns a featured image (if you want it).
So, the only thing you will need to do to create a WordPress gallery from any 3rd-party HTML gallery (literally ANY) is to simple enter the target gallery's URL into the simple dialog box right in the visual WordPress post editor (there will be a special button for that). Anybody needs such a plugin? |
There is one - I had a clean out of my bookmarks so not sure it will be there - I will check...

Actually the CyberSEO plugin can do something similar, but it works with RSS/XML feeds only and doesn't allow to import the galleries from stand-alone HTML pages in manual mode while adding/editing the post/page.

Notice: admin-functions.php is deprecated since version 2.5! Use wp-admin/includes/admin.php instead. in /wp-includes/functions.php on line 3134 Notice: has_cap was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 2.0! Usage of user levels by plugins and themes is deprecated. Use roles and capabilities instead. in /wp-includes/functions.php on line 3193 Also it seems, the plugin just takes the full-sized images from the HTML pages, but not those linked from small thumbnails (like every FHG has). I;ve tried to fetch a random sponsor-hosted gallery (http://www.leggycash.com/angela/apr28_14/index.php) and got the dialog box saying: "Internal error". I've asked if you are interested in easy in use (available right in the visual editor), universal (ANY image gallery can be imported*) and working solution. * As an image gallery I assume any HTML site which contains any number of thumbnails linked to the full-sized images. |
If it includes mass import via csv with post scheduling, I would.

sounds like a very interesting plugin, i'll keep an eye on this thread :)

also the site with thumbs posted are not so good (thumb quality wise) best to do with imagemagick |
You can assign the image compression quality. Also you can save them with doubled resolution etc to make look better.

Would be nice a plugin like CyberSEO wants to do |
The plugin is ready for sale. You can buy it here: http://www.cyberseo.net/gallery-magic/
The plugin is very easy in use. Add a new post or open the existing one and click the ?Gallery Magic Shortcode? button (marked with a red square on the picture below). http://www.cyberseo.net/image/img/gallery-magic-1.jpg The ?Gallery Magic? popup box will appear. Enter the URL of the HTML page which does contain a gallery you want to copy, then click the ?Insert Gallery Magic Shortcode? button. http://www.cyberseo.net/image/img/gallery-magic-2.jpg The gallery shortcode will be inserted into your post. http://www.cyberseo.net/image/img/gallery-magic-3.jpg Now simple save or update the post and Vualá, your gallery is here! http://www.cyberseo.net/image/img/gallery-magic-4.jpg |

I was told by you in a gfy thread that cyberseo already was capable of doing pretty much same thing as this, thus why we bought it.. was sadly disappointed to find out it not only does NOT do this, but also takes hiring a fucking programmer to do anything with it. Just getting youtube to do what we wanted was a pain in the ass. And the built-in spinner.. yeah.. a custom list worth it's salt crashes everytime it tries to spin.. useless. To me, it was a wasted $200 to only be able to get a youtube channel to synch to blog, which many many free plugins can already do, and still have to manually spin everything. if you add another plugin to your repository, please make it useful out of the box without insane amounts of customization/issues needed. Not trying to be rude... just being honest |

The problem I face with similar products is that it seems to get caught up on lightbox galleries such as met-art etc. Not all just some, so maybe conflict with certain lightbox scripting? Just a thought.

****Quick Review****
****Quick Review****
I've only been playing with it for about 20 minutes, but here are my findings so far. Install The script installed with ease. Activation was as simple as inputting the registrant's name and email address. Use It couldn't be simpler to use. The Gallery Magic button is easily found in the formatting menu at the top of the WordPress editor. I used both the button and copy/paste of the shortcode as methods of generating the post. The results were the same as if I had dragged and dropped into WordPress. Performance The script was quick to fetch the images from the FHG's. Of course, the speed will depend on the connection between your server and the other host's. Most galleries were fetched within 2-3 seconds, including thumbnail processing times. Issues Only one program's galleries wouldn't import. NastyDollars.com's galleries would only import the first image, but that could be some form of protection on their end, a communication issue, or something else. Remember that the images have to be DIRECTLY linked, so no images from galleries that embed the images in attachment pages. That also means no pulling galleries from affiliate hosts like LinkBucks, ImageFap, or similar free hosts (how about an anti-container add-on???). Improvements I would love to see an anti-container add-on, like that of DownThemAll or Bulk Image Downloader, as either a free or paid add-on. Perhaps an option to keep it from posting if no images are found or scraped, to prevent empty galleries. Final Thoughts The script did exactly what it said it would. Installation through first completed gallery took about 60-90 seconds. Success rate (other than NastyDollars) was 100% when images were linked directly. It's definitely worth the $30, if you're looking to use FHG content on your site, while still having unique pages. Note This IS NOT a compensated review. I am a CyberSEO user and have been for years, but that in NO WAY influenced this review. It did however influence my decision to buy this script, as I've had very good luck generating sites/traffic with CyberSEO. |
I bought it also,
nothing more to add to schiz review, a good script that is definately worth its money. |
Thanks for you guys for your reviews/posts :thumbsup
schiz could you please give me an example of the NastyDollars FHG you were unable to import. I wanna play with it. |
Updated review
****Updated Review****
Having been unable to recreate the NastyDollars issue with FHG's, I'm guessing it was just a connection between my host and theirs. I've successfully fetched more than a dozen galleries from the ND servers without issue. My apologies for the issues I had earlier. *Note* I couldn't find a place to edit the original post, so I'm either blind or there's a time limit on it. :) |
Sounds cool.
