It is really easy - you call up the family financial adviser, and ask him to arrange a disbursement from your trust fund. When the funds are made available, you go! Three simple steps

riding a bike around the world is my dream...could not do it in one go like this guy did simply because its exhausting as fuck to drive for 60 days...

You can travel cheap if you are disciplined, I considered using a dual sport motorcycle for my current trip, but decided I couldn't camp in tents that long. I suspect that guy stayed at a lot of hotels and probably couch surfed quite a bit.

John-ACWM 05-16-2014 02:46 AM

Pretty courageous. Cool vid.

His story is as incredible as it is inspirational, unique, and motivational. He endeavored to work directly with the less fortunate children of the world in each of the 22+ Latin American countries he visited. As a Medical Student leaving everything behind, he was able to show the world these incredible encounters from his unique perspective. He faced life endangering situations, bureaucratic difficulties, politics, crime, natural disasters, sleeping in parking lots, running out of money while at the same time raising funds internationally for charity from sponsors and individuals following the journey online.

He is a graduate of the University of Texas where he graduated with Honors in Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition and Chemistry. Before beginning his doctoral studies he embarked on conquering his lifelong dream of traveling the world the most adventurously way possible by motorbike, committed to documenting his adventures while raising awareness/funds for charitable causes.

He initially sold everything he had at the begining of his journey, including his car, TV and clothes and departed his hometown of El Paso Texas with nothing to return back to, living only out of his motorcycle for the next 3 years. These years were spent engaging in the most epic of adventures riding in over 36+ countries, driving over 200,000+ km and crossing over 75+borders around the world, discovering the most unique places and people on earth!

He continually works with brand names like GoPro, Alpinestars, Kawasaki, First Gear, Bike Master, Arai and more in prototype development, product testing and production while writing for motorcycle magazines in Australia and Italy.

Totally agree, the problem with people now is they have no sense of adventure.

Teardrop Caravans are a great idea, a little pricey for what you get but much better than camping for an extended period of time.

Couch Surfing is a great concept!

DVTimes 05-16-2014 03:39 AM

i have fancied going around the EU on a bike (cycling) or in a van (so I can camp in it).

Its then mainly the cost of fuel.

Nice video, and lots of fun for him

shimmy 05-16-2014 06:04 AM

I've vacationed in 30 counties so far, over 150 cities. Watching that video reminds me of my last big trip where I wasted way to much time taking pictures instead of actually enjoying the place. Facebook ruined vacations for me. People I go with take way to much pictures just to post on Facebook. My best memories are from my first vacations where I just took a cheap disposable camera and can back just with 10 pics.

And where have you been, Monsieur Douchebag? Tell me where you've been in the last 6 months "on the cheap" other than your neighborhood gloryhole.

That sucks :( I didn't realize they sold out, I suppose it was always going to happen as the site got bigger.

Similar sites like BeWelcome are growing slowly.

Norway, Holland & Poland and I'm going back to Poland next month because it's a great place!

Thanks for playing :)

Bucharest, Kaunas & Riga are on the To Do list for 2014, might as well make the most of these super cheap budget airlines because cheap air travel will be a thing of the past in the not to distant future!

Oh and Majorca next week!

it doesnt matter, they are the same...nothing is for free in inet world...if they provide you great service for FREE, then they have to make some money from you...how ? guess what ? :winkwink:

BareBacked 05-16-2014 10:42 AM

Wow this is an epic video. Its sad to see people hating on this.

I guessing you could do this for around $40k a year. Why would you all assume he is a trust fund baby? Even if he . Who is he hurting? He is living life. More power

Yeah you're right :disgust

I went into full blown rant mode about FREE & Google last month in this post

https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=20067903&postcount=19

I still think it's a great concept, it needs to be improved and fine tuned as a better user experience.

I love disruptive technologies that benefit the end user. Airbnb, TaskRabbit, Uber etc

Ewan McGregor and his buddy did 20k miles around the world and made a show about it. I must say, it was actually very entertaining. He seems very down to earth and they did it all camping out, crashing with locals etc. I think the full series is on netflix.

You work, you save, you plan, you save, you plan, you take the trip.

I've met lots of people who are on epic global adventures (I live in one of the areas they all go to). Pretty much all of them did it the same way. Then the rest fund themselves with online projects. I've yet to meet someone who's mom and dad were paying for it.

I'll be in Botswana, Northumbria, Tel Megido, and Santorini at least

So don't be such a smug ass. I have better sustainable tourism chops than you do - and If I make fun of a self aggrandizing sack, that is, as your buddy Bobby Brown says, my prerogative.

You where talking bollocks and instead of apologising or admitting you were wrong you decided to resort to name calling.

I don't wish to waste anymore time arguing with you, nor see any of your posts in the future so lets put each other on ignore :thumbsup
