You can stream flv just like mp4 without lighttpd
Lighttpd will stream flv so you can jump forward to any point in the vid just like mp4;
but if you don't use lighttpd then you can do it on Apache with this : http://tperspective.blogspot.com/200...one-right.html You can stream mp4 without lighttpd on Apache with this : http://h264.code-shop.com/trac/wiki/...pache-Version2 Hosted flv might save some bandwidth if surfers want to jump forward. ... I think. :1orglaugh |

But flv is unsupported on android. Seems like mp4 is the best way forward.
I can't even install flv support on androids kit Kat os. |

Lots of people still use computers to surf the porno. |
As it was already said, flv is not cross platform compatible.
Sponsors using flv are out of date and out of touch with what is happening NOW. Last I checked, mobile devices were around 10% of our traffic and growing monthly. It doesn't even make sense to use flv when mp4 / h264 is superior in every way. What's old is old, but moving forward you should let that format die. |
With 55% of Internet usage in the U.S. coming through mobile devices, the best shops are doing mobile-first design and treating desktop and laptop design as secondary
you?d be foolish not to design with mobile in mind from the start. Forbes... |
Apache, Lighttpd and Nginx all support flv/mp4 streaming. However on mobile with byte range requests lighttpd will fail (the mod_h264_streaming module has a bug).
